“People will sooner aid a sick dog lying on the sidewalk
than to try to find shelter for a sick person. It's too much
to deal with.”
Michael Zaslow
This is the 244th letter:
Text for the day: Isaiah 55:6-8 King James Version
“6. Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.”

Our Devotional
Homelessness and those seeking for shelter has reason over the years, and according to the experts it will get worst. As many as 3.5 million people experience homelessness in a given year. Many homeless people have no means of communications with the outside world. Some of the latest statistics show that on an average, 62% Single men, 15% Single women, 12.2% Women with children, and 2.3% Men with children are among those seeking shelter.
There is no racial line as some may have you believe of those who are homeless. They are all in need of shelter! When you look at the health concerns of those seeking shelter, it can be to serious mental illnesses, disabled, substance abuse, or serious health problems that is the main cause. A lack of education and unemployment are also some of the leading reasons why people are in need of shelter as well. So when did homelessness and those in need of shelter begin on earth? Going back to the Garden of Eden, it is said that when Adam sinned against God, He was ask to leave his home and shelter, (Genesis 3:23-24).
When Adam and Eve walked out of there garden home, on that very day, they where homeless and in need of a shelter. In other words, Adam and Eve were the first homeless people on the face of all the earth. Beside their physical need for shelter, they were in desperate need of spiritual shelter, and this was their greatest need. The Bible helps us see that in order for them to obtain the Lord’s mercy and pardon, however, it was necessary for Adam and Eve to confess their sin, Today we would say "give up their sinfulness, habits, and thoughts, and turn whole-heartedly to the Lord".
1. By nature mankind is in a lost condition or dead, and don’t know it. But God loves them so much that He through His Holy Spirit directs them to 'seek' for Him, (Romans 8:7 / Ephesians 2:4-10).
2. To all that earnestly seek God, He has promised that they will obtain his favor and shelter, which is called salvation (Zephaniah 2:3).
3. The invitation to seek God is not given to a certain class or people, but to all men, (Isaiah 45:22 / Romans 10:13).
THE BIBLE MAKES IT CLEAR THAT SALVATION IS A GIFT OF ASSURANCE THAT IS GIVEN TO THOSE WHO COME TO GOD BY FAITH IN JESUS. (Numbers 23:19 NKJV) "God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?"
Isaiah the gospel prophet of the Old Testament makes it clear in Isaiah 55:6-8, that the time will come when it will be impossible to obtain God’s favor, because He will not be found. Today transgression has almost reached its limit. Confusion fills the world, and a great terror is soon to come upon all. The end is very near and many are not ready. Sad to say, to many Jesus coming will be an overwhelming surprise, but to the righteous it will not (1 Thessalonians 5:2-6).
According to Bible prophesy, a "time of trouble, such as never was," is soon to open upon us, and we shall need an experience which we do not now possess and which many are too indolent to obtain, but God’s children shall be sheltered (Daniel 12:1 / Ezekiel 14:20).
Today we are living in the final struggle, or great conflict between truth and error. Let us keep the Bible before us which shall point out the times in which we are living. To those who place themselves under the shelter of God, they shall be led and guided by Him.
