The final steps of Jesus (Part 1)

When love is meant to be, it will always find a way to show it’s self.

This is the 233rd letter:

Text for the day: Hebrews 9:22

"...without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sin."

April is a special month to many around the world. It is our aim at Garden Ministry with your help to see that everyone on your email contact list if they will, receive these devotions in that month. The theme for the month will be, “Go light your world”. We can make it happen, by lighting your world.

Our Theme for the day is: The final steps of Jesus (Part 1)

Our Devotional

Spring is a delightful time in the year for all around the world. The colors and smells that greet your eyes and noise in the many flowers are only a small part the reminder that spring is here. In the Christian church spring is also a reminder of Jesus death, burial, and resurrection. Walking back in history, Nazareth is looked at as a humble hometown of Mary and Joseph, “But it was here that Mary was visited by the angel Gabriel and told she would conceive a child by the Holy Spirit” (Luke 1:26-38), but this was not Calvary.

History goes on to say that Jesus was born in a time of Roman census in a manger in Bethlehem, Know as the City of David. The announcement of His birth by Angels, shepherds and Magi who came to worship him was great, (Luke 2:1-20; Matthew 2:1-9), but this still was not Calvary. The family of Jesus staying in Egypt until Herod death, (Matthew 2:13-20), and Jesus formative years at the side of His father and mother, show his obedience to parental authority, (Matthew 2:22-23; 21:11; Mark 1:9), still doesn’t unveil the depth of Calvary.

We learn many lessons from Jesus baptized in the Jordan River, Matthew 3; John 1:40-42, His days of temptation in the wilderness, (Matthew 4: 1-11) and the calling of the disciples, (Matthew 5:18-22), these where great events, but it was not Calvary. The First Miracle of Jesus, (John 2:1-11), and his ministry in Galilee, and Capernaum to name a few, all indicate that Jesus lived with a purpose, but this was not Calvary. The Sermon on the Mount, many say is the most famous of Jesus's many sermons, (Matthew chapter 5 to 7).

The Feeding of the 5,000, on the shores of the Sea of Galilee, (Matthew 15:32-39), this is enough to make any Hollywood picture of the year, but this was not Calvary. The Rejection of Jesus ministry by His own, and the longing of the church leaders and people to throw him off a cliff (Luke 4:14-30), only speak to the ministry of Jesus, but this was not Calvary. The day that Jesus was Transfigured (Matthew 17:1-9), and the Raising of Lazarus from the tomb (John 11:1-44), all speak to the power of the father, but this was not Calvary.

Jesus Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem on a donkey, that first Palm Sunday, the anointing of Jesus feet in the house of Simon by Mary (Mark 14:1-10), was of great significant all would agree, but it was not Calvary. The night of the Last Supper (Mark 14:12-26), and the Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus in Garden of Gethsemane (Matthew 26:36-56; Mark 14:32-51). When you look back on the Trial of Jesus and Him being Condemned and sentenced to die by crucifixion by wicket men (Matthew 27; Mark 15), still this was not Calvary!

The Walk to Calvary on the Via Dolorosa in Jerusalem was painful for Jesus (John 17:19), but this wasn’t Calvary. It is not until Jesus gets to the place where no men turn back, that Gods love for the world is seen in a new light by His Crucifixion. Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull)" is the place chosen for Jesus to be put on a cross between two thieves and crucified (Matthew 27:32-55). Jesus mission would not be accomplish with out His Burial, Resurrection, Ascension, His Second Coming, and the day He destroys all sin and sinners, and make all things new. Matthew 27:57-60, Luke 24:50-51; Acts 1:9-11, Revelation chapters 20 to 22). But all of this would be, because of Calvary. Over these next two weeks let us take time to thank God for Jesus death on Calvary.
