“No duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks.”
James Allen
This is the 226th letter:
Text for the day: 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (King James Version)
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Let the celebration begin!
April is a special month to many around the world. It is our aim at Garden
Our Devotional
Today is a special day in my life; it is my birth-date. The day I came into this world, April 1, and I thank God that He doesn’t make fools. I want to first thank God for His love and care for me all these years. Secondly, if it had not been for His redeeming love through Jesus Christ I don’t know where I would have been. When I was three months old I should have died, because I was very sick.
To make matters worst my mother could not help neither because she was very sink in her mind. She had a mantle break down after finding out that dad, had fathered five other children of which only one survived. I must pause to thank God for my mother, the late Mrs. Grace E. Bean Santucci who had gone through so much, but held her head up despite it all, “thank you Lord”. In those days, because of her sickness, she could not give the care needed for my brothers and sisters, and I was overlooked and became very sick.
But one day God sent my god-mother, the late Mrs. Phyllis Butterfield to the house to see my mother. As she walked in the house she said, “Her heart was made heavy as she accessed the needs”. My father like many fathers in those days had fallen into a drinking binge, but years later would only stop drinking after a serious accident which later led to his death. Let me say in those days we did not have much as many families have today, but there was love for neighbors, country, extended family, and family. I must stop at this point to just say, “Give thanks”. For as the deer pants for the water brooks, so my soul pants after you, God. (Psalm 42:1)

After help was provided, it was decided that I would go and live with my god-mother. For a number of years I stayed with her until my mother was able to get back on her feet. Mom and dad died in the Lord, and I long to see them again with many other family members and friends. God has been good to me by giving me a wife, (Karon) for 27 years and two children, (Kevina, and Jonathan). Today I can say God had saved me, not once when I was a baby, but twice, when I give my heart to Him 28 years ago.
The Bible encourages us to give thanks unto the Lord among the nations. “That is why I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the nations and make music to praise your name” (Psalm 18:49). We ought to, “Give thanks unto the LORD; for [he is] good: because his mercy [endureth] for ever” (Psalm 118:1). King David the grateful and thankful servant of God steps out of his thorn as he humbles himself. The wait of the nation and people before the thorn of God is now resting on him. As he looks with in himself, he understand that this day is a day for all men to praise God, and he knows that he cannot himself alone sufficiently express his thankfulness. Therefore he calls in the aid of others to left their voices with him and said; “Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever. Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth for ever” (verses 2-4).
At this present moment, someone's sky may be dark with clouds of hopelessness, doubt, and fear. Yet we are encouraged to still thank God! This is not a day to be unthankful in heart, and greedy of man's tongues of praise, as it was in days of old, but to stop and thank the Lord. This is the day to celebrate God’s goodness and give him thanks. So, “Give thanks to the LORD, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done” for you. (1 Chronicles 16:8)

Prayer request:
Please pray for the Teacher-Training Students and lecturer at the Antigua State College, as we struggle through this semester to have all our assignments completed as we approach the end of the second semester, with exams around the corner. As one of the students there I can see my fellow class mates exhibiting frustration, dissatisfaction, among other things. We are in dia need of prayer and guidance at this time. I also want you to lift up Hayde Moses and her family in prayers at this time with the recent passing of her Sister. May God continue to strengthen them with your prayers,
Have a God filled day.
