The final steps of Jesus (Part 3) My Jesus, I Love Thee

By day and night, I sought him whom my soul loveth.

This is the 235th letter:

Text for the day: 1 Corinthians 11:26 (King James Version)

For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.

April is a special month to many around the world. It is our aim at Garden Ministry with your help to see that everyone on your email contact list if they will, receive these devotions in that month. The theme for the month will be, “Go light your world”. We can make it happen, by lighting your world.

Our Devotional

Many years ago Pastor John, was invited to take part in a church service for one of the local hospital’s health awareness week. As the service started, he and the local pastor of the church walked in with the singing of the morning hymn. To Pastor John this was a wonderful opportunity to meet old friends from the community and the hospital again. As the service was coming to an end, the local Pastor stood up and said, “To bring our service to an end, we will have an open Communion”.

While standing in the front of the church, the local Pastor invited Pastor John to join him. After prayer was offered, preparation was made for all who will, to partake of the emblems. At that point the local Pastor said to Pastor John, “We drink only real liquor in our communion services, will you partake?” Pastor John’s response was not surprising, because all who knew Pastor John, knew his church encouraged an alcohol free lifestyle.

In (Luke 13: 4-15), Jesus is seen introducing to the early believers the Communion service. This service is held in most churches around the world at different times, but its objective is the same. The service includes the ordinance of humility and the Lord’s Supper. According to the Bible, this is the highest service in the Christian church and should be entered into with a spirit of reverence. Today the Christian church doesn’t celebrate the Passover festival as a memorial of the deliverance of the Israelites firstborn in Egypt. But like those who celebrated the Passover, Christians today enjoy a living experience as they participate by faith in the Lord’s Supper. This service also commemorates the death of Jesus on the cross, (1 Corinthians 11:23-26).

While eating unleavened bread and drinking unfermented wine, we renew our dedication to the one who died so that God can “pass us over” when He looks at our sin. The ceremonies don’t save – only Jesus does that – but our faith in what the ceremonies symbolize makes it possible (and safe) for Him to save us. Like the Jewish father at Passover, the Christian can reply: “When we were slaves of sin, God delivered us with a strong hand and outstretched arm, (Deuteronomy 26:7-9)

Do you leave the Communion Service with a feeling you have been cleaned and strengthened? Do the symbols of the bread as the broken body of Christ and the wine which represent His bleeding blood, help you to appreciate what God has done for you. To many, even in the church of the living God, the communion service has become meaningless. But let it not be said that you have not applied the blood of Jesus, who became the Lamb of God for our sins, sacrifice to be in vain. Why not allow His blood to be put anew, over the door post, and lintel of your heart.

Ø Elder Santucci, Praise be to God in all things and at all times. It was truly a God send that allowed you and Karon to come into my life and that of my mother. I am blessed by your wonderful blog. I am writing to request prayer for my youngest brother, Malcom Wells. He is currently in the hospital. Mom and I took him to emergency last Tuesday, 4/5. The last time he was outside her house, prior to 4/5, was in late November. He is suffering with both mental and physical illness and it does not appear that the treatment is working on his disabilities. Seeing my brother and mom's youngest child go through is taxing on Mom and myself. Mom loves the Lord and as long as I can remember, she has trusted in Him. Mom is now 94 and still holding on. Please pray that God will bring healing to Malcom and provide protection while he is in the hospital. I thank you so very much for listening to me and I thank you in advance for your prayers. God bless you and may God continue to bless this ministry.

"And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28
