Garden Ministry

Encouraging workers in the field of the Lord.

You to can live Perfect (Part 2)

When professed Christians manifest Christ-likeness in their lives, then they will give evidence to those around them that they are born again.

This is the 211th letter:

Text for the day: Matthew 11:28 (King James V ersion)

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

Our Theme for the day: You to can live Perfect (Part 2)

Subject: (Come unto Jesus)

Our Devotional

The story is told of a man who loved to hold a sign which read, “Holiness is what I long for.”   But before the day was over, he had given almost every one who passed him, a piece of his mind and where to get off. We may laugh at this story, but so many of us are like that man. We all hold a sign in our hands every day which tell people who we are and what God we serve or are laboring for.

Today is the day, to get back on track! You may ask how? First we must put away all self-exaltation, and heed the invitation of Christ, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Do not expect to find the way of life, the way to true wisdom and ‘rest,’ by going to the so-called ‘wise’ and ‘prudent’ ( Matthew 11:25). They are no better than ‘blind leaders of the blind’ ( Matthew 15:14). ‘Instead, come unto me.” Christ alone knows the father; therefore Christ alone can reveal the father. ( Matthew 6:9) In these gracious words Christ extended to the multitude and invitation to become His disciples. This same invitation is extended to us as well, which includes taking the “yoke” of Jesus. God doesn’t leave us to fight the fight of faith alone. Jesus said, “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” ( Matthew 11:28-29)

It is not of physical labor that Christ here speaks. All mankind bear many heavy burdens, the heaviest of which is sin. However, in the addition to the usual “burdens” borne in common by all humanity, the Scribes and Pharisees of Jesus day had put many other “heavy burdens” on the people. ( Matthew 23:4) The people were “heavy laden” with so many rabbinical requirements that they lost the true meaning of worship and service. If we are going to yoke up with Jesus, then let us put off all boasting, because it is sin. Let us also put off all self-exaltation, and heed the invitation of Christ and come. Soon the great day of God's judgment will come forus all. (1 Peter 4:17)

Several books will be opened. In one of those books which is the ‘book of life’ will be names of those who believed and had followed Jesus' invitation to come. But to those who did not come to Jesus, they will be left outside of His kingdom. One day every name will be called, one by one to give an account before God. What will your answer be?

The call by God today is not a call for profession, but a call to a manifestation of Christ-likeness by revealing Him in your commitment to follow Him. The song writer wrote, “I will follow Thee, my Savior, Where soe’er my lot may be; Where Thou goest I will follow, Yes, my Lord, I’ll follow Thee. Refrain: I will follow Thee, my Savior, Thou didst shed Thy blood for me; and though all men should forsake Thee, By Thy grace I’ll follow Thee. By James L. Elginburg, 1886 arr. by Andrew L. Byers

O backsliding daughter, O backsliding son, “Who shall come unto me?” (Jeremiah 49:4) As you follow Jesus today, the world will see evidence that you are born into the kingdom of Christ.
