Garden Ministry

Encouraging workers in the field of the Lord.

Holiness is what I long for! (Part 1)

Today many of the professed followers of

Christ, they feel no more burden for souls than

do the world. The lusts of the eye, the pride of

life, the love of display, and the love of ease,

has separated the professed Christians from

God, and the missionary spirit in reality exists in

but a few.

This is the 212th letter:

Text for the day: Psalm 96:9

O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness

Our Theme for the day: Holiness is what I long for! (Part 1)

Our Devotional

Marylyn loved people and she did within all her powers to help them get on their feet. Counseling was one of her specialties, although she would not admit, she was not a counselor, people would still seek her advice. Marylyn took pride in her work, “Just to see the hurting mended and the confused living normal" was what she lived for. One morning as Marylyn awoke; she was surprised to find that her husband was awake also. As God would have it, they talked and talked and talked.

It was like heaven came down in their bedroom, as they talked about the Holiness of God that morning. With so many things to talk about she asked her husband, “I wonder how much of our worlds population do you think take out time each day to think about what will it take to live in the presence of a Holy God. As I see it "she said, "Even many of the church people are not as fervent as they used to be, “that is to say, living a life of holiness”!

By this time her husbands ears where wide open. "You see" said Marylyn, "the problem lies not with the people. What you see in the people, with this lack of interest in living holy is only the outward showing of an inward problem".

Like Marylyn, God Loves people and He will do all in His power to help them on their feet, both physically and spiritually. Counseling is one of His specialties, and to those who have followed His counsel have been an asset, both to their countries and to His Kingdom. Just to see the hurting mended, the confused living normal, the sin sick healed of their sin is what He loves to see.

A week before the Passover AD 31, Jesus was on His way to Jerusalem. As He turned the corner, a Jew by the name of Zacchaeus (some say the chief tax collector, or tax commissioner) saw Jesus and longed to see Him. With the powers of Rome backing him, Zacchaeus like other tax collectors of his day was an oppressor of the poor, who generally collected from the people more than the law called for. But on this day with hunger of heart, he had been longing for an opportunity to see Jesus and learn from Him the way of life more perfectly. To some extent he had already put the principles of the gospel to work in his own life, by acting in harmony with principles found in Leviticus 25:17, 35-37.

But he knew that this was not enough. As Zacchaeus ran before the people and climbed up a Sycamore tree to see Jesus, to his surprise Jesus came walking his way until He stood under the tree. After Jesus orders him down, He said to Zacchaeus, “I must abide at your house”. Today there are many like Zacchaeus' who greatly desire an opportunity to see Jesus. They are highly honored and pleased to entertain the great teacher in their homes. This week-end don’t put it off. Share the holiness of God in your life with someone at their fire side. Tell them, “I must abide at your house” (Luke 19:5). Remember Jesus' primary propose in coming to earth was to find and to restore the lost back to holiness. (Luke 19:10)
