This is the 78th letter:
Text for the day: 2 Timothy 4:2-2
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
Our Theme for the day: Stay Focus
Our Devotional
Today as we write, there is much being said about men’s opposition to one another. It doesn’t matter where you look, in government, in the private sector, at churches or even at the grassroots of society there is so much opposition. But opposition doesn’t stop there. We have resistance to chance, and confrontation and hostility to groups opposing chance and one another. This brings opposition also. And then there is the direct opposition to another which leads to open demonstration, and some times verbal and physical abuse. Lastly there is the silent opposition by those who act like they are working with you, but inwardly they are not. These are they that pay for your meal if you don’t have money, and put you in a taxi and make sure you get home. But behind your back, they are working like the enemy to bring you to your knees. They are the devils special end time tools, his opposing military force prepared to kill. Many have tried to find the answer, but they have come back disappointed and more discourage.
Why is there so much opposition? Some have gone the length of putting up great billboards with the messages saying, is there any answer to why mankind can’t get along? Others have locked themselves behind great monastery seeking for the answer. The apostle Paul in looking to encourage Timothy in the ministry said to him, “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” (2 Timothy 4:2-5) My fellow servant leaders like Timothy, God has given you and me the answer to mankind’s questions and it’s in the Bible. We can all agree that this world is not with-out leaders in the church and civil authority who do not read their Bible. Yet alone take time to study for them selves. They preach other peoples messages, or speak other people’s words.
It is not mere readers of the Bible that God needs right now. But those who are able to preach the truth which is called sound doctrine. This was Christ’s method of communicating the word. Only the word is adequate to meet the needs of sin-weakened men and women who find joy in being at ought with their brothers and sisters, or fellow workers. Pleasing stories, which merely attract attention and create a laugh, are incompetent to take the place of sound doctrine of the word. Preach the word in season and out of season suggests content designed to aid mankind in meeting temptation and in solving life’s problems day by day through the power of the Holy Spirit. The reason why there is so much opposition in our world today is because many servant leaders have failed to reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. When servant leaders realize their mission as living links between the living and the dead then they will see the needy and the not as needy as one.
Then their messages will consist only of the pure bread of life. The other reason why there is so much opposition not just among those who have not Christ, but among those who claim Him as Lord, is because they have left the faith. The Bible puts it this way, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” Friends we must admit it, most people love a lie over the truth. Today Gods word to you is, “watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, (or opposition) do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” By doing this you may not please every-one, but you will minister to every-one. Stay Focus.
