I have always been amazed of how a plant springs from a seed. Depending on the type of plant the germination can take from five to twenty-one days. Also depending on the location, the germination could be longer. Today we are talking about part two of the seven main steps or points in gardening. Step two is the sowing of Seeds. Have you ever asked your self, what is a seed made up of? Or why is it that most plants or trees produce seeds? Let’s answer the last question first. Plants have several different ways of reproducing. Some plants divide and copy themselves in a sexual reproduction. Most plants use sexual reproduction that requires both male and female parts. The male part of a plant is called the pollen. Pollen is found at the end of a stalk called a stamen. The female part is called on ovule. After the ovule is fertilized it becomes a seed. For this to happen, the pollen must reach the ovule. Our father in Heaven has made it so that plants rely on insects, bees, birds, animals, wind and even water to help in the pollination of ovule. For instant a bee would fly to a flower and brush against the pollen on a stamen and it sticks to them.
They carry it to another flower and brush against the female stigma of a flower. The stigma has a tube called a style that the pollen travels down. It is connected to the ovule that is waiting for the pollen to produce a seed. Pollination is the movement of pollen from the stamen of a flower to the stigma of another flower. Fertilization occurs when the pollen reaches the ovule. After a plant is fertilized it than produces a seed. Some plants produce seeds inside a fruit. Some plants produce seeds in a nut. Some plants like dandelions produce their seeds and release them into the wind. There is another fact about seeds which is most important, and it is the fact which needs our closest attention. God made every plant and tree with seed, to reproduce its kind. The Bible calls or refers to those who carry the gospel as seed bearers. “Sow your seed (Servant Leader) in the morning, and at evening let not your hands be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.” (Ecclesiastes 11:6) The Word of God is like the seed of a tree of which there are promise’s to all who take it and share, that Christ may be reproduce in all who would hear.
He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him. Psalm 126:6, Seeds need a supply of moisture and air in the soil around them after they are planted. Keeping the soil too wet drives out the air and the seed quickly rots, whereas insufficient water causes the tender seedling to dry out and die. David in reviewing the hand of God over His people said, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread. (Psalm 37:25) In looking at God’s eternal care, many years ago because of sin, in mercy God the father looked down on planet earth and said the time has come. At the same time the Holy Spirit said I am at your command, and Jesus said I am ready to do thy will. The Father step out and pollinated His son, (Jesus) with the human race. As the pollen of the spirit reached the ovule of the seed of men it produced the God man which the Bible called Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. The book of Hebrews 2:16-17 put it this way, “For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.”
Lastly, what is the benefit of the spiritual seed which is the word of God? The benefit is that one day some people will be saved, because their seed remained in them. For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off. (Psalm 37:28) What man is he that feareth the LORD? Him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. His soul shall dwell at ease; and his seed shall inherit the earth. (Psalm 25:12-13) Even our love one who have died and are now sleeping in Jesus, will He call and they shall come froth from their graves. These are some of the benefits of the spiritual seed, which is the word of God. The Bible says in Isaiah 43:4-7, “Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from afar, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.” Therefore fear thou not, O my servant Jacob, saith the LORD; neither be dismayed, O
