“Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, we will not walk therein. Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Hearken to the sound of the trumpet. But they said we will not hearken.”
Jeremiah 6:16-17

Set the trumpet to thy mouth.
Our Theme for the day is: (I’LL GIVE YOU POWER) Part 4 Stand in Dignity, Efficiency, and Power
Our Devotional
The fourth of July has come and gone like a blink of an eye, but not without the celebration of the Bristol Parade in Bristol Rhode Island it was not a celebration. Since 1785, this parade has been performed. In fact, this is the oldest continuous Independence Day celebration in the United States. Since 1868, Seward, Nebraska has held a celebration on the same town square. In 1979 Seward was designated “America’s Official Fourth of July City-Small Town USA” by resolution of Congress. Seward is a town of 6,000 but swells to 40,000+ during the 4th of July celebrations.
On this day the Parades are often in the morning, while families hosting or attending a picnic or barbecue with relatives and friends, are held during the day. As the sun sets and evening draws on, firework displays occur at such places as parks, fairgrounds, beaches, or town squares. This is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. In addition, Independence Day is commonly associated with carnivals, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches, and ceremonies. Various public and private events, celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States also take place on this day. There are many other special days in America which is celebrated through out the year, but the fourth of July, Independence Day, or national day, many say is the number one holiday in all the United States.
In the Hebrew calendar year there where seven main feast days which were celebrated. These days where called the seven “shadowy” Sabbaths, Leviticus 23:7-36 / Colossians 2:14-17. Four of those holidays where celebrated in the spring, and the last three in the autumn. Note, not like the holidays which men set aside for celebration which are temporal, all of these seven festivals where important, and had a deep spiritual meaning. These feasts were part of the “Ceremonial Law,” and were tied to the seasons, and the harvests. They fell on specified days of the month, but not on specified days of the week. Note, Independence Day can fall on any day of the week, but it will just be a holiday. Looking back at the history of these seven feasts days, as year follows year, and sometimes, inevitably, if they coincide with the weekly Sabbath, it was called a high Sabbath, Leviticus 23:28.
The feast of Pentecost was one of those special holidays which where celebrated in June, the third month of the Hebrew calendar year. What was also interesting about this celebration was that it coincided with the annual wheat harvest. The Bible says that about fifty days after Jesus' resurrection the Holy Spirit came on the early church. From that day until our day, we have been living in the power of the early rain. But today we are living in the fullness of the Holy Spirits power, called the latter rain.
In other words, this is the day of the dispensation of the Spirit. Today we have a question that needs to be answered by all who claim the name of "Christian". What are you doing with the promise of His Spirit that was put in your hands? Through this power you have been qualified to give the trumpet a certain sound, Isaiah 58:1 / Ezekiel 33:3-7 / Joel 2:1-3 / 1 Corinthians 14:7-9.
Through this power you have been given the power to arouse the sleeping people and set the captives free. Just look around, what more must God give to show his love for us and those who are still in darkness? Today it is time to celebrate our independence from sin, by working with God through the power of the Holy Spirit for others. May you be complete as the Holy Spirit causes you to stand in dignity, efficiency, and power!
