“In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand.”
In Christ Alone lyrics

Text for the day: Matthew 5:17 (New King James Version)
Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.
Our Theme for the day: “THE BLUEPRINT” Part 2 (In Christ Alone)
After three months of travel from Egypt, the children of Israel came to Mount Sinai or Mount Horeb. Every morning when they awoke, they where greeted by the cloud of God’s love and protection from the heat of the day and the chill of the night. Around 2,500 B.C. God called Moses to the top of the mount to give unto him the transcript of His love. Note, this was done not once, but twice, because Moses broke the first Decalogue, Exodus 31:18 / Exodus 32:15-19 / Exodus 34:28.
Looking back even further, could it be that God’s law existed before man was created? Of course, Most Theologians and scientist who have probed into the knowledge of the law agree that the law of God was adapted to the condition of holy beings. They go on to say that even angels were governed by it before the worlds began. The big question on the mind of most people today is, what happened to it’s principle of the law after the fall of Adam and Eve? Based upon Jesus' own words He said "Don't ever think that I came to set aside Moses' Teachings or the Prophets. I didn't come to set them aside but to make them come true.” Matthew 5:17. Note the principles of righteousness were unchanged. Nothing was taken from the law; not even one of its holy precepts did Jesus come to improve upon.
“Think not that I am come ... - Our Saviour was just entering on his work. It was important for him to state what he came to do. By his setting up to be a teacher in opposition to the scribes and Pharisees, some might charge him with an intention to destroy their law, and to abolish the customs of the nation. In other words, we perform practiced rituals and practiced responses that are neither of nor from the Spirit. Jesus therefore told them that he did not come for that end, but really to fulfill or accomplish what was in the law and the prophets.
To destroy, to abrogate, to deny their divine authority, to set people free from the obligation to obey "The law," is not the teaching of Jesus, but the father of lies whose name is Satan. The first five books of the Bible Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy. These books of the Bible are known as the five books of Moses or books of the law, Luke 24:44. Among the Jews this was the first division of the Old Testament, and was called the "law."
The books of the prophets were the second and largest part of the Hebrew Scriptures. It consist of the books of Joshua, Judges, 1st and 2nd Samuel, 1st and 2nd Kings, which were called the "former prophets;" and Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and the twelve smaller books from Daniel, to Malachi, which were called the "latter prophets."
Thirdly, there were the psalms, “The word here means the “Hagiographa,” or holy writings.” This consisted of the Psalms, Proverbs, Job, Song of Solomon, Ruth, Lamentations, Ecclesiastes, Esther, Daniel, Ezra, and Nehemiah, and the two books of Chronicles. This division of the Old Testament was in use long before the time of Christ, and was what he referred to here; and he meant to say that in "each of" these divisions of the Old Testament, there were prophecies respecting himself. (Barnes’ Notes on the Bible)
In Exodus 20:1-17 God does a new thing; He comes down and talks to man face to face, and He chiseled with His own finger on tables of lasting granite, the keys to the ills of this earth. Let us take some time to read these keys today, and ask God to keep us in Christ alone. This is the only way for all of God's children, black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants, Muslims, and Catholics, to be faithful to God, in Christ alone.
