Am I my brother's keeper? (Part 10 A World of Peace)

“If we are not our brother's keeper, at least let us not be his executioner” By Marlon Brando

This is the 205th letter:

Text for the day: Isaiah 60:18 (New King James Version)

Violence shall no longer be heard in your land, neither wasting nor destruction within your borders; But you shall call your walls Salvation, and your gates Praise.

Our Theme for the day: “Am I my brother's keeper?” (Part 10 A World of Peace)

Our Devotional

This is the final part in a ten part series on violence and vengeful thinking. About fifteen centuries after the sentence pronounced upon Cain had gone forth from God, the universe witnessed the outgrowth of his influence and example, in the crime and pollution that flooded the earth. Every emotion, every impulse, every imagination of men, and intention of all their thinking was only evil continually. Mankind found delight in being at war with the divine principles of purity, peace and love. (Genesis 6:5)

After the sentence of death pronounced upon the fallen race was made, all saw that God’s decision was both just and merciful. (Genesis 6:6-7) The longer men lived in sin, the more abandoned they became. As it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be in our day. (Matthew 24:37-39) One day God shall cut short a career of unbridled iniquity (Matthew 24:22), and free the world from the influence of those who have become so hardened in rebellion. This shall be a blessing to the righteous but a curse to the wicked.

Not that God longs to see the death of the wicked, (Ezekiel 33:11) “He carries with Him the sympathy and approval of the whole universe as He moves step by step towards His great plan of redemption. God is love (1 John 4:8), and He will demonstrate this love even in the final eradication of rebellion from the earth. It will be finally seen, that all who have forsaken the divine precepts have placed themselves on the side of Satan, in warfare against Christ. When the prince of this world shall be judged, and all who have united with him shall share his fate, the whole universe as witness to the sentence will declare, "Just and true are Thy ways, Thou King of saints." Revelation 15:3.

Isaiah describes a time when the violence of men and beast will cease. All nature in that day will be at peace, “They shall not hurt or destroy in all my Holy Mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of Yahweh as the waters cover the sea. (Isa. 11:6-9)

A "new heavens and new earth," Isaiah terms it (Isa. 65:17-25, 66:22-24). Soon Jesus the inaugurated King of Kings shall come, to take up divine justice for all who are oppressed. (Isa. 11:1-5). In that day total peace shall reign among all men and nations (Isa. 2:4; Mic. 4:3). The suffering and toils of life will be eliminated as "Yahweh wipes away all tears from all faces," and death itself is "swallowed up forever more" (Revelation 21:1-5 / Isa. 25:7-8). One day there shall be peace in the valley for you and me, no more fighting, no more who is the best, or who got the most votes. All selfish gain well be over, until that day, keep focus, and trust in the Lord. He will carry you through. In the morning, there shall be, “A World of Peace.”
