Garden Ministry

Encouraging workers in the field of the Lord.

"Am I my brother's keeper?" (Part 7 Where is your Brother?)

For our benefit does God ask us questions, and earnest prayer and nothing less than the descent of the Holy Spirit in our hearts would settle these questions.

This is the 202nd letter:

Text for the day: Mark 11:29

I will also ask of you one question, and answer me!

Our Theme for the day: “Am I my brother's keeper?” (Part 7 Where is your Brother?)

Our Devotional

Stop and listen what do you hear? This question is ringing in my ear. Stop and listen, now it’s coming from over there, it’s now more questions they want me to answer in their ear. Questions can be good at times. All people long to have the right question asked of them. Like how is your family when all is going well, or have you received that promotion, or will you be the next in line? Questions can be good at times. On the other hand there are sometimes you wished no one said a word to you. Like when you have just come from the doctor and the news is, you have cancer, heart trouble, diabetes, or aids, etc. It is at these times you wish that there was silence, but the question comes anyhow. Are you okay? What is your diagnosis, or how are you going to make it?

In our text today, Jesus is seen responding to a question by the chief priests, scribes and elders. Before He answers them their question, He puts a question to them. Because they seek to not answer His question, He tells them neither do I answer your question. (Mark 11:27-33)

When mankind asks questions they can be good or bad at times. They can be what we like to hear or they can be what we don’t want to hear. But when God asks a question there is nothing bad about that question, or wrong with the time of the question that He asks. Since God asked Cain the question, “Where is thy brother” Genesis 6:9, every generation there after has witnessed the senseless murder of a human. Today God is still asking the question, where is thy brother?

1.    Why are you not doing something about the violence in your land, where is thy brother?

2.    How long shall you stand and watch the blood flow in your streets, where is thy brother?

3.    How long shall you close your doors and shut your windows to the cries of death around you, where is thy brother?

I like what La Virgil-Maldonado has to say on this subject. “If you look around the world people are stepping out and joining forces in what they value. There will come a time when Bermuda (and other countries) will say enough is enough.” She goes on to say, “In order to achieve we must believe, receive and participate. Yep, that’s right, get off the stands and do something even if it’s the smallest thing you can do, it will add to the building blocks of rebuilding our foundation. A country built on unity, respect, hard work, love, dedication, endurance, risk taking, and most of all order, will ultimately fear God.  Lastly, if you have fear for God, then you will have respect for your leaders and one another.”

Looking at the cause of why people commit evil to others. We must ask another question. What would cause a man, woman, young man or a young woman to become so enraged with anger that they would destroy life? The answer can only be found in this statement, “Whenever, through faith in the Lamb of God, a soul renounces the service of sin, Satan's wrath is kindled. And he seeks by any means possible to hold them in his grip, and if he fails there, then he seeks to kill them.” Sad to say, many have become victims of someone else’s anger. It is time for the perpetrators to be put in their proper light at the time of the crime.

At the time of murder, the perpetrator is the agent of Satans power to destroy life. The holy life of Abel testified against Satan's claim that it is impossible for man to keep God's law. Whenever men stand in vindication of the righteousness of the law of God, the same spirit will be manifested against them. Like Abel God will have people on the face of the earth in these last days who will not and cannot be forced to submit to the control of Satans power. "They will overcome him ["that old serpent, called the devil, and Satan"] by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; and they will love not their lives unto the death." Revelation 12:11, 9. The day has come for all to step it up in Jesus name. No weapon that comes up against you today will prosper. Stop and listen what do you hear? This question is still ringing in my ear. Stop and listen, now its voice you can faintly hear, could it be that you’re one of the millions, who has hardened their hearts or blocked their ears?
