Garden Ministry

Encouraging workers in the field of the Lord.

(Is there Anyway)

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of

death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and

thy staff they comfort me.”

Psalms 23:4

This is the 247th letter:

Text for the day: Romans 8:35-39

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Our Devotional

Today, Bermuda ponders the reality of the news of the death through murder of a young 22 year old Jason Smith. Some may know him directly, others indirectly, and yet others this is the first time in learning of him. In talking to a gentleman about the death of his son’s friend, I couldn’t help but see the pain and grief of the lost on his face. What is death? Some call death a sleep, others may have a different name for it, but one thing we can all agree on is that death is an enemy. It is a robber! You can stay up all night to prevent it from coming to your door, but when it comes you can’t stop it.

In the words of, “Mr Belvedere, who has organized a peace march in the past, said he is “tired of seeing our young black men going down the drain the way they are,” and that to “see someone as innocent as Jason lose his life because of the crap that our island has come to is very sad, and I can’t imagine what his parents and close friends are thinking right now.”

He said Mr Smith was not a “gang member, just a young black male” trying to live his life.” It’s unfortunate Bermuda has come to this, we can’t be a perfect little paradise, but it has gotten out of hand now,” said Mr Belvedere.

Mr Smith’s tragic murder marked the fifth murder of 2011, following the murder of David Clarke on April 17th on North Shore, murder of Randy Robinson on March 31st on Border Lane, the murder of Jahmiko Leshore on March 1st in Devonshire, and the murder of Colford Ferguson on February 4th in Sandy’s. So far this year, Bermuda is averaging approximately one murder every 24 days.” By Bernews

Sad to say this was not the only tragedy in our family over the last few days. We received new that my wife’s first cousin was found dead in the water, off the Mill Point Road, Pembroke Bermuda. Investigations are on going in both casts, can you keep the immediate families in prayer.

Anyone that knows anything related to these incidents can place contact detectives at the Serious Crime Unit on 441-295-0011, or the confidential Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-8477

“If you are going through the lost of a love one or friend, I leave you with these words.

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble,” (Psalm 46:1)

“He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces; the rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken,” (Isaiah 25:8)

“As one, whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; and you shall be comforted in Jerusalem which is the church,” (Isaiah 66:13)

I’m thankful to the Lord that we can find comfort in Him, and the house-hold of faith. What about you?
