Our Devotional

 

So far this week we have been talking about building characters and setting new goals for the year. We see the results of the body builders after a time of intense work out. Muscles and better stamina are built under these conditions. But why, when it comes to building spiritual muscles and better stamina among Christian that they spend so little time at it? I believe when men and women have formed characters which God can endorse, than they will be ready to enter the kingdom of heaven! This will call for time in the gym of the word with Jesus, and on the waits of trail which build character. The salvation of mankind is the greatest satisfaction and joy of the Father and the Son. To those who cooperate with God in laboring with all their strength this year, will share in the joy of the redeemed host around the throne.

Today is the day to look with in oneself, and see what God has entrusted to you. For there is hidden inside of you means and capabilities far higher than that you look upon. There is a fearful misconception of the claims of duty upon most today. Some people are working in areas of there calling, while others are not. Today some people know where they are going to with their ministry or work, while others do not. Some are living for the next moment to help some one, while others are running as fast as possible from the call to serve. The powers of darkness are working with an intensity of effort, and this year thousands of people, from all kindreds, nations, and tongues, will pass into eternity, unwarned and unready. Our faith must mean something more definite, more decided, more important than the church you go.

Our faith in Jesus must mean something more then the institution we where instructed from. Our faith in God must mean something more then the churches we do ministry from. These things are not faith, they only help make faith. For then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God, (Romans 10:17) If you where to ask most institutions and churches, do you believe the Word of God? What then are you doing in missionary lines? Are you working with self-denial and self-sacrifice? Do you believe that the Word of God means what it says? The answer which you will receive from most of them is, some of it. Or we are a modern institution or church nowadays. By the words and actions of most of these places, they show that they are not even concern with what Jesus is doing for them in heaven.

Do you believe? How will you meet the judgment bar of God? Today is the day to warn the unwarned, and care for the uncared who are passing into eternity. This is the day of earth’s probation. Will there be a second probation? No, no. This fallacy might just as well be given up at once. The present probation is all that we shall have. Do you realize that the salvation of fallen human beings must be secured in this present life, or they will be forever lost? God is calling you today to integrity and intensity. Will you answer the call to the highest service? Let us be like Paul and say, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. May God bless you in your service today.
