HOW QUICKLY THINGS CHANGE

This is the 113th letter:

Text for the day: Jude 1:24 (King James Version)

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,

Our Theme for the day: HOW QUICKLY THINGS CHANGE

Our Devotional

The New Year is already seven days old and finally all the graffiti from the celebrations has been cleaned up and the music packed away. The merchant are still counting their profits and or loses as they look for a better year. Mothers are noticing the loss of joy on their children’s faces, and fathers are now putting more time in their personal enjoyments then their children’s. How quickly things change. To many people who made commitments to someone or God on New Years Eve, sad to say they have broken them. Yes so quickly things have changed. To those who did not see things going well last year and into the turning of this year, today you have received news of a break through.  O how things can change, praise the Lord!

With the commencement of a few days into the New Year, Jude reminds us that God is still able to keep that which has been committed to Him. He says, “Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.” To the faithful servant leader of God, you have nothing to fear this year unless you forget the way God led you last year. If you want to be blessed and become a blessing to others, then you must be willing to obey God’s voice. Then, and only then shall you be blessed and a peculiar treasure above all people on the earth by the Lord. But all this begins by you being willing to be kept.

The song writer wrote, O to be kept by Jesus, kept by his power divine. Can you look back upon your course through the past year with sweet satisfaction? Have you made progress in your way to heaven? Have you been overcoming your pride of heart, your pride of dress, and are you becoming more humble, and meek like Jesus you’re loving Saviour? If your commitment to the Lord has been broken, or if you know of someone that is struggling with there commitment to the Lord, find time to help them. By helping someone else you will be helping yourself. Jude goes on to say, “To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen” (verse 25.)

In other words Jude is telling you and I, that we can trust God with our lives this year. Soul, body, and spirit, to do his will and be kept by His power. Let’s begin this New Year to the glory of God. Pray to him, morning, noon, and night, to give you a meek and humble spirit, a mild temper, an affectionate disposition. Live as you never lived before. Begin this New Year with new feelings, fresh desires, and a strong determination to glorify God. This year can be the happiest year of your life; you can do more good to others than you have ever yet done. You can be a comfort and a blessing to all around you. Commence the year aright, by devoting yourself to God; it’s still early in the year. Spend a portion of your time each day in praying to God for strength, that you may resist evil, and every day overcome.

Finally, let your thoughts dwell upon things of earth less, and upon heaven more, and watch how quickly things will change. Change for the good, for your salvation, change for the good if you are sick, change for the good if you need a job and money. God is able to take every circumstance, and change it quickly if you believe.

Our Prayer for today:

Lord, thank you for the assurance that you will keep your servants

faithful to their commitments to thee this year.

2 Prayer Request

Prayer has been asked for a colleague’s niece who is in America for medical help.

Please put Sonya Holder a registered nurse in prayer from Bermuda.

She was left unconscious by a driver who crashed into her on a cross walk.

Thrown 12 feet by the impact and suffered a fractured neck.

The driver stopped to look back before driving off. She is still in hospital.

Our Prayer for today:

Lord it’s not an easy road we are called to travel,

but with you we can forget those things which are behind,

and reach forth unto those things which are before.

Help us press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling

of God in Christ Jesus. That when you come we may be seen

through our intensity with the true spirit of integrity.
