Garden Ministry

Encouraging workers in the field of the Lord.

Watch your appetite (Part 2, It's not what's on your fork that defiles only)

This is the 53rd letter:
Text for the day: Daniel 1:8
But Daniel determined that he would not defile himself by eating the king's
food or drinking his wine, so he asked the head of the palace staff to
exempt him from the royal diet.
Our Theme for the day: Watch your appetite (Part 2)
"It's not what's on your fork that defiles only"
There is a saying which says, evil left uncheck only intensifies. Today most
people are blind to spiritual reason and the cause of their problem in life
is primarily do to their own perverted appetite. Some of which is carried to
the greatest excess. Take a look at tobacco, wine, liquor, drugs, and the
high seasoning of food these are apart of the list of a feverish stimulating
diet of so many in our world today. Many doctors agree that if these things
alone were left out of the diet, mankind would be much healthier, and there
would be fewer deaths. Peter describes the attitude of the world in
reference to the last message of mercy to a dieing world: "There shall come
in the last day's scoffers, walking after their own lusts and saying, where
is the promise of his coming? For since the fathers fell asleep all things
continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they
willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old,
and the earth standing out of the water and in the water;
Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished; but
the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in
store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of
ungodly men, women, and children. But beloved, be not ignorant of this one
thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand
years as one day. Can we not see that the Lord is not slack concerning his
promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward; not
willing that any should perish, but that all, (both men, women, and
children, that means you and I) should come to repentance. But the day of
the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall
pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat,
the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."
Like in the days of Noah there are Philosophers and men of science who are
as we write endeavoring by their reasoning to show that the world cannot be
destroyed by fire. They are pleading on the TV, and the radio, in the class
room and the pulpit, that it is inconsistent with the laws of nature. But
the God of nature, the maker and controller of nature, can if He will, and
when He wills, use the works of his own hands to serve his purpose. To those
who would be loyal to the God of heaven, they will not allow the
interpretation of prophecy to loose its force of which God designed the
prophecy should convey. As the contemporaries of Noah day laughed to scorn
that which they termed fear and superstition in the woods of the preacher of
righteousness, so will the solemn messages of warning to God people be
ridiculed in our day. Today Satan is stirring up opposition and creating
discouragement among God's people like it was in the day of Noah because
this is the day of the lord. It's not what's on your fork that will defile
you, but what's in your heart. Well you be saved like Noah and those who
choose to followed Him
