FW: The Safe Way

This is the 62nd letter:

Text for the day: Proverbs 12:28

In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Our Theme for the day: The safe way

I was traveling one year and saw a sign over a store which read, “Safe Way”. It was obvious that the owner wanted every one to know that what ever was in his shop was safe to buy. In our text for the day the writer, Solomon wants his readers to know that to choose holiness is to choose life. But Solomon doesn’t stop there, for to stop there would give only, a half sided picture of the art of choice. The manner in which one makes a choice often has much to do in determining whether they will be accepted or rejected in any walk of life. That is why we must choose well, for our choices bring happiness, or sadness, joy or even at times pain. It would be good if all could see the end result of their choice, but God has hidden that part from us that we may walk by faith and a simplistic trust in Him. Solomon would go on to say that there is another way of which sorry to say people would follow. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end there of are the ways of death.” (Proverbs 14:12 / 16:25)

Today God doesn’t give up on us; He is there with arms open wide saying, “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said we will not walk there in. Jeremiah 6:16 some would think that God would give up after all that bad talk by those who choose their own way, but He doesn’t. God is seen coming back like Ail on the ropes with Frazer hitting Him calling, “Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? Prudent and he shall know them, for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein. (Hosea 14:9) Like a mother who sees danger coming before it happens, is seen admonishing His children to: “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:13-14)

Finally God is seen crying like an earthly father who has witnessed his own child following their own way. When He falls on His kneels and cries saying, “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die O house of Israel?” (Ezekiel 18:30-31) These verses “constitute an appeal by God based on the principles of His justice and dealing with mankind. It is clear that man can not save himself by his own power. But there is a part that man must act in the work of salvation. God can do nothing for man without man’s consent and cooperation.” (DA 466) The seat or root of sin begins in the mind with a six letter word, “choice.” But when one chooses to make the change and sees their need of a Saviour, then they cry out to God and the powers of the soul are imbued with the power from above and the lower propensity of the mind that led to sin is corrected.

Remember, true repentance is the process whereby sin is expelled from the mind. But God cannot forgive sin that is still active in the mind. This is the reason why so many people fall after coming to Jesus so repeatedly into the same sin, is that they have never truly permitted the Holy Spirit to change their mind. There is a great work before us as servant leaders today, let us lift up the flame of truth so all can see Jesus.
