FW: Wealthy, Healthy, and Wise series Part 2 (Clear of the ground)

This is the 66 letter:

Text for the day:
Joshua 7:13

Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, 'consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: That which is devoted is among you, O Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove it.

Our Theme for the day: “Wealthy, Healthy, and Wise series Part 2”

(Clear of the ground)

Today we shall look at the first step in a series of seven of the big seven’s in farming. Step one is what most farmers call ground preparation. This is the hardest and most trying part of farming. This is the part of farming where there are very few participants. You ask most people which part of farming they like, and they will say it’s not the preparation. There is hard work in preparation. The work of proper preparation doesn’t happen over night, as some would make you believe. Just ask someone who is working on there doctorate of education, or a runner who is looking forward to run a marathon, preparation is needed. If preparation is so needful in these things, why do we rush so fast into things pertaining to our future or the physical and spiritual needs of others? So what is so discouraging about ground preparation that has brought us to a time of instant result? One thing, when one is preparing for a garden you must clear of the ground. You ask a teacher how was your first week of school after a summer holiday, and they would tell you this is hard work. Clearing of the foolishness of play can take up to six weeks with most students.

This clearing of the ground is also liken to that special group that goes into the highways and byways of this world seeking and clearing the hearts of men, so truth and help can be delivered. In this work of going into the highways and the hedges, there are serious difficulties to be met and overcome. But we are called to search, even in discouragement, it is God who will open doors, and even send help, He will open up ways before His servants. Secondly ground preparation calls for you to wait for the best time to turnover the ground. Every good farmer knows that in order to get the best out of their garden they must work with the season. It could be life or death to the natural force that works with a farmer in his produce. Thirdly the Bible reminds us that before we start any thing we must sit down first and count the cost. (Luke 14:28) Who would profit from this work? Not us but God who should profit from our labour. Fourthly, like the garden the mind is full of weeds that need to be taken out by its root. The Bible says we were born with them, but they don’t have to say there. Gods word says, Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. (Psalm 51:5)  Some have stopped here with this verse and go no further.

But God is in the master business of healing and success, from the preparation to the reconciliation even unto our glorification. There are many types of spiritual weeds to evil that have taken root in our minds, which needs to be rooted out. Like the garden you must wait for the best time to turn over the mind or uproot these weeds of sin. Depending on what tool you are using, the best mind turnover can take months, but the end result is sure. A weed free garden or mind, which is perfection, is what God is looking for. It is our prayer at Garden Ministry that Christ’s desire may be a reality in your life and the lives of those you work with, and for today. Be ye therefore perfect, even as you’re Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48) Lastly if you think perfection is impossible, then take courage in these great men who where classed as perfectionists. Noah – Genesis 6:9, Abram- Genesis 17:1, Asa's - 1 Kings 15:14, Job – Job 1:1, 8, and Jesus – Matthew 3:16-17. As servant Leaders let us seek to help someone today.

Wealthy, Healthy, and Wise series Part 1

This is the 65th letter:

Text for the day:
Ecclesiastes 2:5-6

I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits: I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees:

Our Theme for the day: “Wealthy, Healthy, and Wise series Part 1”

It’s that time of the year again when all the farmers are up early mornings and down late at night working there fields. Depending on were you are living in the earth, it could be one of the big seven’s in framing. Yes you heard it right. Did you not know that there are seven main steps or points in gardening? Step one is ground preparation, step two is the sowing of Seed, Step three is transplanting, step four is harvest, and step five is late harvest. Before we go on with the last two, I want to encourage every one to get outside and do something with the earth. The last two steps is seed time, and step seven storing. Join us next week as we shall explore these seven steps.

Finally when you look at the benefit of garden, one must ask them selves why, is it that more people are not outdoors working in their yards? So what are some of the benefits of Gardening? Through gardening one can reduce their stress level, develop patience, and get exercise. On the nutritional side. It is a known fact that if vegetables come from your own garden, nine times out of ten you will eat them. As servant leader remember God wants you to be wealthy, healthy, and wise.

FW: No Excuse

This is the 64rd letter:

Text for the day:
Romans 8:9 (King James Version)

But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any men have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Our Theme for the day: “No Excuse”

Today we look at a subject that gets little talk these days, the sin in leadership. When you hear this subject talked about by most people in a pulpit, radio, TV, or even on the street, there is much light heartedness about it. But this should be no laughing matter. Today many have left the church and others dare to enter because of the light attitude by many on this subject. Now we should never think that God singles out leaders in sin and over looks the parishioner, or the community. All who fall in sin the Bible calls a transgressor of the law, and is in need of a Saviour. According to Roman 5:12-19, it was because of sin that Jesus came to this earth to live, die, and now intercedes in Heaven for all mankind. That all may pass from death to life. There is no excuse for sin, for if it was there would be no sin, and the mere fact that there is no excuse is why Jesus came to be our pardon for sin. If we are to overcome sin then every impulse of our nature, every faculty of our mind needs to be under the controlling power of the spirit of God. If it where stopped there or if that is all God was calling us to, than He could say amen. But it is not, today God is also saying, every inclination of your heart needs to be surrendered moment by moment, and brought under the control of the Holy Spirit.

Today it’s time for all to open their eyes and see that, “there is not a blessing which God bestows upon man, nor a trial which he permits to befall him, but Satan both can and will seize upon it to tempt, to harass, and destroy the soul, if we give him the least advantage. Therefore however great one's spiritual light, however much he may enjoy of the divine favor and blessing, he should ever walk humbly before the Lord, pleading in faith that God will direct every thought and control every impulse. {MYP 62.1} The bottom line here is, there is no excuse for sin. If you are called by God to be a leader in the church, school, government, or in the common walks of life you are under the most sacred obligation if you be in Christ to guard the spirit, and to exercise self- control under the greatest provocation. The responsibility placed upon David as King was very great; yet this was not allowed to excuse his sin. The prophet said thou art the man; David was guilty of committing adultery with Uriah the Hittite’s wife, then killing him with the sword, and finally taking her to wife.  2 Samuel 11:1-27, 12:1-13

God has made ample provision for His people; and if they rely upon His strength, they will never become the sport of circumstances. The strongest temptation cannot excuse sin. However great the pressure brought to bear upon the soul, transgression is our own act. It is not in the power of earth or hell to compel any one to do evil. Satan attacks us at our weak points, but we need not be overcome. However severe or unexpected the assault, God has provided help for us, and in His strength we may be more than conquers through Christ Jesus. Finally, Paul in his letter to the Romans expresses confidence in them for their unwavering faith and their spiritual mindedness. As a servant Leader may you be directed and influenced by the Holy Spirit today. May the old life in the flesh forever stop and the new life in the spirit be kept both now, and forever more amen. Like David who repented of his sin and found pardon in God’s word, you can find the same. Why not pray his prayer today as found in Psalm 51?

FW: Rejuvenation

This is the 63rd letter:

Text for the day:
1 Corinthians 9:27
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Our Theme for the day: “Rejuvenation”

Why is it that every year around the same time there is an out break of sickness or flu? Even as you are reading this devotion, plans are being made to fight against the next invasion of sickness. When I was young, I use to hear people say God helps those who help themselves. But is that true? Sad to say, like many of you I thought that was in the Bible, but it isn’t. David Truman in his article The Truth Behind "God Helps Those who Help Themselves" makes this point clear when he wrote, “It is fair to say that God's help is more likely to be effective if you are earnestly trying to do your part to help yourself. And sometimes, God can't effectively help a guy who's working too hard to unhelp himself.”  In looking a little closer at the success stories of those with good health verses the not so good stories of those who are living with bad health, my mind got to thinking about God’s original plan for mankind and health.

Which leads me to this question, when was the last time you ask yourself, why is there so much sickness or people getting sick in our world? The first thing we need to establish is that I am not a doctor, or claim to have all the answers to life’s problems. I am a Bible instructor or teacher of the Book who loves to study a wide range of topics.  Ultimately it is the great physician and teacher who gives you an understanding of the area of life most needed. And He will work through the area of life most adapted to you, so put behind you the notion that unless you attain an established school God can’t use you to help someone. It would be good if all can have excess to a form of higher learning.  But remember higher learning is not the end to the means of your high calling in Christ Jesus. But the means to an end of you having a better understanding of your high calling in Christ Jesus. To help us understand that God can use the educated, and the not so educated we turn our attention to the book of Acts.

In the days of the apostles the Bible says, “Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marveled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus.” Would that we all find a little more time to be with Jesus. God is no respecter of person, and He longs that we as servant leaders be the same. Now back to our topic on health. Did you not know that most people take good health for granted? In fact most people only worry about good heath after it’s almost gone. We should seek to preserve the full vigor of all our powers for the accomplishment of the work before us. Whatever detracts from physical vigor weakens mental effort. Hence, every practice unfavorable to the health of the body should be resolutely shunned.

We cannot maintain consecration to God and yet injure our health by the willful indulgence of a wrong habit. Self-denial is one of the conditions, not only of admission into the service of Christ, but of continuance therein. Christ Himself declared, in unmistakable language, the conditions of discipleship: "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." Yet, how many who call themselves Christians is unwilling to exercise self-denial, even for Christ's sake. How often the love for some pernicious indulgence is stronger than the desire for a sound mind in a sound body. Precious hours of probation are spent, God-given means squandered, to please the eye or to gratify the appetite. Custom holds thousands in bondage to the earthly and sensual. Many are willing captives; they desire no better portion. {By Ellen G. White Mind Character and Personality380- 381} It is time for us all to come up to higher ground in our health.

FW: The Safe Way

This is the 62nd letter:

Text for the day: Proverbs 12:28

In the way of righteousness is life: and in the pathway thereof there is no death.

Our Theme for the day: The safe way

I was traveling one year and saw a sign over a store which read, “Safe Way”. It was obvious that the owner wanted every one to know that what ever was in his shop was safe to buy. In our text for the day the writer, Solomon wants his readers to know that to choose holiness is to choose life. But Solomon doesn’t stop there, for to stop there would give only, a half sided picture of the art of choice. The manner in which one makes a choice often has much to do in determining whether they will be accepted or rejected in any walk of life. That is why we must choose well, for our choices bring happiness, or sadness, joy or even at times pain. It would be good if all could see the end result of their choice, but God has hidden that part from us that we may walk by faith and a simplistic trust in Him. Solomon would go on to say that there is another way of which sorry to say people would follow. “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end there of are the ways of death.” (Proverbs 14:12 / 16:25)

Today God doesn’t give up on us; He is there with arms open wide saying, “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said we will not walk there in. Jeremiah 6:16 some would think that God would give up after all that bad talk by those who choose their own way, but He doesn’t. God is seen coming back like Ail on the ropes with Frazer hitting Him calling, “Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? Prudent and he shall know them, for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein. (Hosea 14:9) Like a mother who sees danger coming before it happens, is seen admonishing His children to: “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. (Matthew 7:13-14)

Finally God is seen crying like an earthly father who has witnessed his own child following their own way. When He falls on His kneels and cries saying, “Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die O house of Israel?” (Ezekiel 18:30-31) These verses “constitute an appeal by God based on the principles of His justice and dealing with mankind. It is clear that man can not save himself by his own power. But there is a part that man must act in the work of salvation. God can do nothing for man without man’s consent and cooperation.” (DA 466) The seat or root of sin begins in the mind with a six letter word, “choice.” But when one chooses to make the change and sees their need of a Saviour, then they cry out to God and the powers of the soul are imbued with the power from above and the lower propensity of the mind that led to sin is corrected.

Remember, true repentance is the process whereby sin is expelled from the mind. But God cannot forgive sin that is still active in the mind. This is the reason why so many people fall after coming to Jesus so repeatedly into the same sin, is that they have never truly permitted the Holy Spirit to change their mind. There is a great work before us as servant leaders today, let us lift up the flame of truth so all can see Jesus.

FW: The Ride of our lives

This is the 61st letter:

Text for the day: 2 Corinthians 6:1 (King James Version)

We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain

Our Theme for the day: “The Ride of our lives”

I have always been amazed from the time the buses started running through my neighbourhood that there would be a problem some day if the trash is lifted on the street. And then one day it happened, the bus operators where going to stop picking up passengers in my neighbourhood unless something was done. As the different ministries in government worked on the problem, before long it was agreed that the trashcollector would come into the area a little earlier. As time went on this only offered another problem, the late risers still put their trash out after the trashcollector had already come. There are some great spiritual lessons in this story. Firstly, like the buses which come through my neighbourhood at set times. Did you not know that the Holy Spirit comes by the street of our lives every day at set times to pick us up from sin and discouragement, hopelessness, suffering, and pain, to take us on a ride to Heaven?

Secondly, like the trash that was slowing up the buses from getting to the next passengers on time. Remember you may not like it but sometimes, the trash of your known sin may be the very cause of someone not receiving eternal life, and receiving healing for their need. Thirdly, we all have some sort of trash in our lives that need to be put out on the trash day of our high calling to Jesus, or greater responsibility in Christ Jesus. It’s time to put it out today and on time. The Bible says, “Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, to day if ye will hear his voice”, Hebrews 3:6-8. It doesn’t matter what part of the work of God you are in or may not be in the Lord is calling you. You are called to be His ambassador; you are called to be His co-worker, rejoice in that fact and live it to its fullest. Fourthly, as the different ministries in government are working on the problem in the area were I live, our Heavenly Father with His ministerial team in Heaven and earth are working with mankind to rid them of the trash of sin and self.

So the true operator, Jesus Christ can bring all passengers to dwell with them forever more. In closing, I was reading from a book this morning called (Review and Herald December 26, 1907) and found this quotation. “The Lord's purposes for His people have ever been the same. He desires to bestow on the children of men the riches of an eternal inheritance. His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. When those who choose to become obedient subjects of the Most High are finally saved in the kingdom of glory, God's purpose for mankind will have been fulfilled.” Today I am longing that God's purpose for me is fulfilled, are you? As servant leaders today, let us be apart of the team that is looking for ways to clear the trash of sin, and emptiness, hurt, and loneliness, sadness, and uselessness, from our neighbors lives. So the Holy Spirit can pick them up and take then on the ride of their lives, to Heaven.

THE EVIL EYE OF GOSSIP Part 5 (Hot Potato, the two-fold curse)

This is the 60th letter:

Text for the day: Revelation 12:10

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Our Theme for the day: “The evil eye of Gossip” Part 5
(Hot Potato, the two-fold curse)

Today we end our series on gossip. You may be saying to yourselves I never thought there was so much to say on this subject. To be truthful we have only just started but every good thing must come to an end. Evil speaking is a two-fold curse, falling more heavily upon the speaker than upon the hearer. How miserable is the tale-bearer, who bears words of evil! He or she is a stranger to true happiness, and they will never have it as long as they are telling tales. So how does a person become a gossiper?

1. It begins with the sin of cherishing evil thoughts.

2. Then an impure thought tolerated, an unholy desire cherished, leads to contaminated action.

When it is finish, it make
compromise's your integrity.
"When integrity is compromised then lust hath conceived. After lust hath conceived, it brings forth sin; and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death." If we do not want to be a part of gossiping, we must shun its very beginnings.

Every emotion and desire must be held in subjection to reason and conscience. Every unholy thought must be instantly repelled. Today Jesus is pleading before God the father that you may overcome gossip. On the other hand Satan is standing at his right hand as his adversary. He is an accuser of the children of God.

The Bible tells us that people in the latter days would be murmurers, and grumblers. As it is written, THESE ARE MURMURERS (grumblers-NIV)-Jude 16

But we are also commanded to do all things without murmuring and disputing. (Philippians 2:14)

What was Jesus comment to the people of His day about gossiping? “O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the Day of Judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. (Matthew 12:34-37)

Paul words to the people of his day also apply to us who are living in these last days. “For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings, whisperings [NIV, RSV: gossip], swellings, tumults. (2 Corinthians 12:20)

Today, it is time to let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking [NIV, RSV: slander], be put away from you, with all malice. (Ephesians 4:31)

Finally, if you are being accused or talked about by someone, "it is time for you to praise the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

The Bible says, “If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. Let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters." (1 Peter 4:14-15)
