DON'T SIN IN YOUR ANGER (Part 3) THE SEASON OF DEVOTION

This is the 146th letter:

Text for the day: Psalm 46:10 (King James Version)

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen; I will be exalted in the earth.

Our Theme for the day: DON’T SIN IN YOUR ANGER (Part 3) THE SEASON OF DEVOTION

Our Devotional

Love breaks down all barriers. If we kept this in mind then there would be more celebrating and less fighting in the streets. The home is the training school of society, but if the home has lost its purpose, then there goes society. In the home there should be no scolding, no loud-voiced, or angry commands permitted by parents to child. On the other hand, children should be taught to obey the injunction of their parents and all in authority. God’s injunction to Israel in days past is still the same for all families today. "Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10. To those of you who have been given the privilege to become parents by the Lord, He is waiting to give rich blessings to those parents who would make diligent efforts to rule their spirit. It doesn’t matter how harsh your character may be. The grace of Christ will soften harsh traits of character and smooth out your rugged disposition.

Parents, teachers, and all in authority, remember, gentleness in word and deed will soften the course mind and subdue the most stubborn will. When Moses was speaking to the children of Israel at Kadesh in the desert of Zin, he forgot the most important lesson of his high calling to ministry, gentleness. God said, “I will be exalted among the heathen; I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10. Moses was called to exalt the name of God in the earth in word, and deed. How many servant leaders forget this point, when they are pushed and mistreated by those of whom they are called to minister to, they get angry and fail to be gentle? Sometimes many servant leaders forget this point when they are misunderstood, or thought less of by even those they are called to minister with. At every step of our way we should remember to speak gentle. God in speaking to all who are called to minister says, "I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, Fear not; I will help thee." Isaiah 41:13

There is no excuse for anger. Today could our children learn these lessons in the early years of their life from their parents, what freshness and power, what joy and sweetness, would be brought into their lives! The Bible goes on to say; Instead of Moses being a good example to all who was looking, and listening, he got angry and started to call them names. “He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, "Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?” Numbers 20:10

The people saw the beauty of Moses character, the life of one given to service, but with great regret in contrast they now see the life of one who has revere God's precepts. In the life of all servant leaders there is no room for cheap thoughts of name calling. Moses had falling to a very low point as in the days of Ezekiel when God said, “Thy people "speak one to another, everyone to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the Lord.

And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not." Ezekiel 33:30-32. “It is one thing to treat the Bible as a book of good moral instruction, to be heeded so far as is consistent with the spirit of the times and our position in the world; it is another thing to regard it as it really is--the word of the living God, the word that is our life, the word that is to mold our actions, our words, and our thoughts. To hold God's word as anything less than this is to reject it. And this rejection by those who profess to believe it is foremost among the causes of skepticism and infidelity in the youth.” Ed 260.1

There is another lesson in this story. That is, through Moses lifting up his voice in anger and scolding the people, he was showing them that it was him, and not God who was providing them with water from the rock. Like in the day of Moses, there are those in who are called to serve God’s people who feel that all that is happening around them is because of them. There is an intensity that is taking possession of the most leaders of the world. In amusement, in moneymaking, in the contest for power, in the every struggle for existence, there is an evil force that is working against the power of God that is engrossing the body and mind them of many servants of God.

In the midst of this maddening rush, God is still speaking. He bids us come apart and commune with Him. "Be still, and know that I am God." Psalm 46:10. We are living in the season of devotion, fail not of receiving the blessing of real communion with God today. We are living in the season of devotion, be not in too great haste, take time with God early in prayer. We are living in the season of devotion, with hurried steps press through the circle of Christ's loving presence, he has counsel for you. We are living in the season of devotion. We are living in the season of devotion; your highest success is in the secret of God’s strength. We are living in the season of devotion; give time to think, to pray, and to wait. We are living in the season of devotion, upon God arm lean for a renewal of physical, mental, and spiritual power today. We are living in the season of devotion. Today, God wants to give your wearied frame and tired brain rest, that you in turn may bring comfort to the burdened heart and through you they may see the light. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen; I will be exalted in the earth through you.
