Text for the day:
Our Theme for the day: STAND ON HIS WORD (Part 2) Give me the Bible
Our Devotional
This pass Sunday ministry took another turn in my life. For months now my wife has been trying to get me to help a lady in making a garden in her yard. Well Sunday was the day. But what I did not know was that God was calling me through my wife to help this lady in a spiritual way also. Let me say, starting a garden from the very beginning isn’t easy work! But the end product is breathtaking. This reminds me of Bible study. Getting started isn’t easy, but the end is rewarding. Time is the big factor in both. We have only so much time in a day to work with. It’s not the time that should worry us, but what we do with that time that matters. God has given us all, only so much time to prepare for heaven, and help others to be prepared for heaven also. You may have heard it said, “Time is precious,” that is true!
You may have also heard it said, Time is moving fast,” the reality of life is that we all have the same time given us to work with in any given day. From the time we get up, to the time we lay down, God has given us time to manage and the way to find out your duty to God, and learn what you are called to do for each day is by first seeking God through His word. The unknown author of the song, “Give me the Bible,” said it right when they wrote, “Give me the Bible, star of gladness gleaming, to cheer the wanderer lone and tempest tossed; No storm can hide that radiance peaceful beaming, Since Jesus came to seek and save the lost.” The Refrain goes on to say, “Give me the Bible, holy message shining; Thy light shall guide me in the narrow way; Precept and promise, law and love combining, Till night shall vanish in eternal day.”
Today it is the narrow way we all should seek for, because the narrow path leads to heaven, and we can only find it by searching God's holy word. In order to be a follower of Jesus, you must find time to study the Word. Go to it for counsel, for direction, for knowledge, and you will find it sufficient for all this. It will thoroughly furnish you unto all good works. Today there is an evil among most Christians and their children. They have allowed many things to steal away their quiet time with the Lord. The reading of story-books and newspapers of the day, favorite programs, and the list can go on and on. How long can we go on like this and be able to stand against the evil one? It is clear, as long as you put other things before God, the religion of Jesus cannot dwell in your heart. What does the reading of these story-books and newspapers do for you?
Does it make you sober-minded? Does it fit you for prayer in secret? Does it adorn the Christian? Does it show to the world that you love religion, and you’re Bible, and that your thoughts are much on God and heaven? Does it show that you are walking with God and holding communion with him? Answer these questions to your God.
In every case where there is a thirst for light and vain reading, the word of God lies neglected, and there is no thirst for holy and pure things, and the religion of Jesus is crowded out. You may still retain the name and form of a Christian, but these are only a curse, when the vital part is gone. The mind that should be stayed upon God is under an unhealthy excitement, and prayer is hardly thought of in that state. Today many well to do Christians in high places and even the church sad to say, minds are poison, which should be pure to serve the Living God. All we have is time, but to many time is wasted; time that is not your own, but lent you of God; and he holds you responsible for it; and in the day of judgment you must give an account what disposition you have made of your time.
Today let us sing with the unknown author, Give me the Bible, all my steps enlighten, Teach me the danger of these realms below; That lamp of safety oâer the gloom shall brighten, That light alone the path of peace can show. “Give me the Bible, holy message shining; Thy light shall guide me in the narrow way; Precept and promise, law and love combining, Till night shall vanish in eternal day.”

Please pray that whatever is necessary will continually happen from
now on for my eldest daughter and her younger sisters to become
truly born again and DAILY yield EVERY AREA of their lives to the
LORDSHIP of CHRIST. Pray that both my eldest daughter and 2nd
youngest daughter will weekly attend church and church activities.
PRAY THAT NOTHING WILL STOP them FROM DOING THIS.
Pray also that my 2nd eldest daughter will IMMEDIATELY get
delivered of her anger problem and being physically violent
whenever she is frustrated. She loves Christ but still has this
anger and being violent problem when she is frustrated.
Thanks. Anonymous
