This is the 101st letter:
Text for the day: 1 Peter 5:7 (Amplified Bible)
Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.
Our Theme for the day: Who is wise? (Part 3)
Our Devotional
On an average of ten people very few of them pray on a daily basis. So what is prayer, and why do humans need to go through such a routine every day? Prayer is apart of most religious practices that seeks to activate a connection to God who is the creator of the universe. Prayer is also a deliberate intentional practice that brings great relief and reward to those who offer there petition in the right spirit. Prayer does not bring God down to mortals, but humans up to God. Prayer may be either individual or communal. Prayer can take place in public or in private. It may involve the use of words, song, or complete silence. There are different forms of prayer such as petitionary prayers, supplication prayers, thanksgiving prayers, and confessional prayers. For what ever reason you pray, the invitation by God is, “Cast all your anxiety on me because I care for you.” (1Peter 5:7)
The Bible teaches that prayer can be done spontaneously by anyone at any moment and in any place. Unfortunately, scientific studies regarding the use of prayer have mostly concentrated its effects on the healing of sick or injured people. The efficacy of petition in prayer for physical healing to God has been evaluated in numerous studies, with contradictory results. There has been some criticism of the way the studies were conducted. But no one has ever contradicted the power of prayer. If you are seeking success in what ever field of work you are involved in today, pray. If you need to over-come internal problems, pray. If the external pressures of life are over-whelming you, pray. If you just received bad news and it seems that you’re losing your mind, pray. Prayer brings power.
Prayer subdues kingdoms; prayer by faith sees the promise and delivers the goods. Prayer stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, and caused men to turn around and fight the armies of the aliens. You can pray! Jesus saw prayer as the breath of the soul, and lived in the dependence of His communion with His father through it. Surely you can pray! Today God invites you to the secret place of His chambers, where under the shadow of the Almighty you may find rest through prayer. Today God is longing to sustain you by continual communion with Him through prayer. But there are conditions upon which our prayers our answered. The Bible teaches that, “without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must (first) believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Sad to say there are many, even in their seasons of devotion, who fail to receive their blessing of real communion with God and their blessing, because they are in too great haste.
They are in so great a hurry that they pass through the circle of God’s loving presence, pausing perhaps a moment, but not waiting for counsel. They have no time to remain with the son. Consequently they return with their burdens to their homes, or place of work. These desperate man and woman, boys and girls, can never attain the highest success in this life and the world to come, until they learn the secret of waiting on the Lord. They must give themselves time to think, to pray, to wait upon God for a renewal of physical, mental, and spiritual power. In addition, they need the uplifting of His Spirit, so they can be quickened by fresh life. It is the moment of prayer that brings the wearied frame and tired brain refreshment. It is through the moment of prayer, that the burdened heart will be rested. Why not stop everything you are doing right now and pray.
