TAKE ME BACK (Part 1)

This is the 103rd letter:

Text for the day: Numbers 24:17 (King James Version)

I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Scepter shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

Our Theme for the day:   TAKE ME BACK (Part 1)

Our Devotional

In most Christian communities around the world, the week of December 25 is called the forth week of the Advent. In most churches the common practice is to begin their Litany services. These services start with the celebration of the first week, which begins November 29th, and run until December 24th at sundown or Christmas Eve.

In the first week of the Advent, churches would read the words of Jesus no one knows the time of the Second Coming; therefore we should always be prepared. Readings will continue every week until the forth and final week. What started as a pure church activity has now over the years become a merchant’s paradise. “During the middle Ages, the Advent became a time to prepare for the Second Coming, because in those days, many people were convinced that all the signs pointed to the imminent return of Christ were soon to come. As time moved, the Advent spread throughout the western Churches and became fixed at its present length. Over the last “century”, the Advent has come to anticipate the Nativity as well, says Ken Collin’s in his paper on, The Season of Advent. For many people today, especially retailers, Advent is just a ramp-up to Christmas” and money making. Many books and papers have been written on the subject of the advent, such as “Why is the Advent such an important season in the life of the church”? “The season to prepare for the coming of the baby Jesus”, “What is Advent Season”, and “Where did the season of advent come from?”

During this week we shall take a look at the final week of the first advent. There are many lessons for all servant leaders and people in general to learn from this week. The greatest of these lessons will be how Israel as a nation who where the depositors of God’s truth, and the world as a whole were not prepared for a coming Saviour, but only a few. The word advent comes from the Latin word which means ‘arrival' or a 'coming'. As the clock of time was hastening toward the long anticipated arrival of the desire of ages… Holy angels who ascend and descend from heaven to strengthen with joy the children of God in their suffering, good, and bad times where ready for their Kings arrival. Their work would be to guard and keep the Saviour from evil angels and men, until He has finished His work and destroy the controlling power of Satan. In likeness, Holy angels are assigned today to keep the subjects of God’s grace from evil angels and the darkness constantly thrown around them by Satan. Until they are sealed in there foreheads with the seal of God and the power of Satan is destroyed and has no more effect on them.

Finally, it was impossible for God to alter or change His law to save the lost, perishing men; therefore He suffered His beloved Son to be born, to live on earth, and die for our transgression. Today Lord, take us back to the place of deep appreciation for your coming the first time to this earth. Take us back to your lowly birth, where angels sang and shepherds welcome your birth. Take us back where wise man came to seek and offer gifts to the King, two years after. (Matthew 2:16) Lord, take us back, where all can see Jesus the Saviour of the world living in you and me. Take me back.
