Garden Ministry

Encouraging workers in the field of the Lord.

"The true Watchers and Prayers" (Part 5)T he spirit of Carelessness and Indifference

Welcome to Garden Ministry, where the soil of the mind is broken up, fertilized, and made ready for the toiling of the Holy Spirit.
Garden Ministry’s purpose is to encourage the workers in the field of the Lord, and to keep them looking up to Jesus.

This is the 86th letter:  Ephesians 5:14-16

Text for the day:
Awake thou that sleepiest, and arise from the dead and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Our Theme for the day: “The true Watchers and Prayers” (Part 5)

The spirit of Carelessness and Indifference

Our Devotional

By Nature mankind are self-centered and opinionated. It is a known fact that Self centeredness fosters disease of the mind, and human guilt. It leads those who cherish it to make shipwreck of their faith, and a life of loneliness. Now there is nothing wrong with holding to one's own opinion, for God made us free moral beings with the freedom of choice. But in the call to serve your community through your area of service as a servant leader, there is no room for self-centeredness and being opinionated. Because to whom you work with, you foster a team to all you are working for or with. When these two characteristic or attribute are apart of you, “self-centered and opinionated,” it opens the door to perverted principles, confusion of the senses and cloudiness of judgment. Self-centeredness is like an addiction, you are not happy until you get your way, or until all see things according to your opinion.

Today, as in Christ's day, Satan is ruling the minds of many, but like in the days of Christ, God is standing with arms open wide to give you victory over your self- centeredness and opinions. It was not enough for the disciples of Jesus to be instructed as to the nature of His kingdom. What they needed was a change of heart that would bring them into harmony with its principles. Calling a little child to Him, Jesus set him in the midst of them; then tenderly folding the little one in His arms, He said, "Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven." But when we learn the lessons that Christ desires to teach us, we become partakers of His nature. Take ye heed, watch and pray," was the words of our Saviour spoken in reference to the time of the end, and his second coming to take his faithful children home. First, you are to watch. Watch, lest you should speak hastily, fretfully and impatiently. Watch, lest pride should find a place in your heart.

Watch; lest evil passions should overcome you, instead of you through the power of the Holy Spirit subdue them. Watch, lest a careless, indifferent spirit comes upon you, and you neglect your duty and become light and trifling, and your influence becomes a savor of death, rather than life. It is this last watch, carelessness, indifference that is allowing the enemy to gain a foot-hold on the work of the Lord. It’s time to awake from our careless and indifferent spirit. As long as you and I stay in a careless and indifferent spirit we become decoys for the enemy. It is no time to be superficial and a pleasure seeker, because your influence attracts others. Keep the standard high in your place of calling. This is the day that the Eternal God is drawing the line of distinction between the saints and the sinners, the converted and the unconverted. The two classes do not blend into each other imperceptibly, like the colors of the rainbow. They are as distinct as midday and midnight. We are living in the day where the spirit carelessness and indifference is killing the people in the work place, the home, and the church. But God’s word to you and me today is, awake. Will you awake?
