Garden Ministry

Encouraging workers in the field of the Lord.

Can you pray for me?

This is the 89th letter:

Text for the day: 1 Kings 8:49-50 (King James Version)

Then hear thou their prayer and their supplication in heaven thy dwelling place, and maintain their cause, and forgive thy people that have sinned against thee, and all their transgressions wherein they have transgressed against thee, and give them compassion before them who carried them captive, that they may have compassion on them:

Our Theme for the day: “The true Watchers and Prayers” (Part 8)

Can you pray for me?

Our Devotional

Have you ever been asked to pray for someone or something which was so important to someone Else? How did you feel upon being asked? If you could pray over, what would be the first thing you would change? On another note, Have you ever felt so burden with a request for prayer, that you asked someone else to intercede with you in prayer for someone else? How did the person of which prayer was offered for feel after they where told that others were praying for them also? Many would say that they were thankful, and this is the right reaction. But this wasn’t the reaction of Sheila Seagal, in fact she did not take kindly to the news that her friends had been praying for her. It all began several months ago when Sheila's husband Johnathon took a job in the nearby city of Wachiheebokata. Since then he has been living in a rented apartment and only returning on weekends. The couple’s plans in selling their house and both move to Wachiheebokata was looking bad each day. Sheila decided to call the elders of her local church and ask them to pray for her. That was when she found out that a group of her friends were already praying for her.

As she was passing a room in the church she heard her name being mentioned, she was flabbergasted when she realized that they were praying that they would NOT find a buyer!" Sheila confronted these friends of hers and asked why they would do such a thing? "They were very apologetic and said that it was only because they didn't want to lose her. It was discovered later that they didn’t really want her to stay. "They were just praying to be mean." Sheila approached the pastor of the church and told him what was going on. He claimed that it was out of his hands. The minister was sympathetic to her plight -- he had seen cases of harassment prayer before -- but there was very little he could do. “All of my congregation he said have a direct line to the CEO in Heaven. I can't override them." He told her. So Sheila rounded up a group of the godly people in the church to out pray her friends. The friend's responded, and soon the entire church was embroiled in a prayer war. Eventually Sheila's side won out by one prayer and she did sell her house. But she was still out of several months of mortgage and decided to take everyone who prayed against her to court to try and recoup her losses. Since when did intercessory prayer become a means to offer harassment prayer? God is not the author of anything sinful.

Intercessory prayer is when one is asked to seek for spiritual or religious help in assisting or supporting healing or help on other matters as needed. Intercessory prayer is when one prays to God on behalf of another person or people that God will bless and answer their need. On the other hand harassment prayer is when one prays for slashed tires and rocks thrown at windows, break up of marriages, and the list can goes on and on. Today the spirit of intercessory prayer is needed in our land. We need to pray for all leaders, both spiritual and civil leaders. We need to pray for fathers and mothers too. We need to pray for young children and teens. We need to pray for young adults and adults too. We need to pray for jobs for the jobless, and homes for the homeless, we need to pray. We need to pray for the youth to turn their eyes upon Jesus, and stop the violence, we need to pray. We need to pray for the teachers and principles that they would have the strength to teach the children to fear God, as they learn to fear God, and become upright citizens. Would you pray for these things today? Or better still, when was the last time you spent time most earnestly in prayer for souls around you. Today the Holy Spirit has in a special manner moved me to send up my prayers for you. Would you stop what you’re doing and offer a prayer for someone in need of prayer like you.
