In the pray room

This is the 90th letter:

Text for the day: 1 Kings 8:45

Then hear thou in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

Our Theme for the day: “The true Watchers and Prayers” (Part 9)

In the pray room

Our Devotional

So far in our series on prayer, I have been deeply moved by so many prayer requests for our readers love ones and friends. With over 10% of the population out of work in the USA, and over 6% of the population in my country Bermuda, there is definitely a need to pray. And then there are health concerns that are demanding our attention, the H1N1, and the increase in aids. As we look at Africa with their needs, and the greater of them being food in some areas and water in others. As we look further to the east there is wars and exploitation of workers and people in general, yes we need to pray! Isn’t it amazing that we find our-selves living in a time were you can find a book on every how to fix it, but very little change in the result of the quality of service provided and life. Are these how to fix it books just a money making scheme, or do most people like reading junk? Friends if we are not being edified in life by the things we read and spend time viewing, or listening to, then we need to make a change or the problem will stay with us, we just love junk. Most people put junk in the trash and out for the trash collector, if something in our lives is not helping us then it’s time to put it out through prayer. Through our prayer God gives us results, or a glimpse of hope and assurance. This leads me to ask the question, how do we receive answers to our prayer?

Today we find a place for prayer just about every where on earth, for just about every religious persuasion that’s good. Although God may not approve of every religious persuasion, He still allows religious freedom. With so many people praying, why is it that most people don't receive an answer to their prayers. Sickness is still at a high level in most countries, the family is still falling apart at a high rate, and most people who claim to be followers of Jesus are acting like they have been defeated all the days of their life. It’s time to stop living outside the prayer room, and get inside. Jesus wants to answer your prayer. These are some of the steps in getting our prayers answered. The first and most important step for getting an answer to prayer is to live an obedient life unto the Lord. The second step is that we must be willing to allow Jesus to dwell in us. Jesus says, "If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you" (John 15:7). Notice that Jesus began this promise with a little word called "if". The word "if" is a little word with consequences. The word "if" means that this promise for answered prayer is conditioned upon something. What is it? Jesus says that you can ask whatever you wish, so long as "my words remain in you."

John 1:14 says this word is Jesus. You must have Jesus abiding in you if you expect an answer to your prayer. In the word of God, He has given many promises to heal the sick, comfort those who have grief, or been misunderstood, and separated. The third step in having our prayer answered is in having a spirit of thankfulness. Thanking God for the answer, before you see it. Since you have already believed that God has answered your prayer, the only logical step is to thank Him in advance for the answer. Doing this proves that you trust God's Word. Just as much as God is willing to answer our prayers, there are reasons why prayer is not answered. One of those reasons is doubt. If you have just a small amount of doubt the Bible teaches that we will cancel the answer to our own prayer. James 1:6-7 says, "But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord." God answers only believing prayer, not doubting prayer. Today God wants to answer your prayer, may He bless you as you follow these steps. In closing would you pray for these requests for prayer that were sent to Garden Ministry? A lady in the U.S.A, whose brother is at Johns Hopkins Hospital for pneumonia and is on life support, needs our prayers. His kidneys have failed him. A man in England is asking for prayer. And finally a person is giving thanks for healing of cancer. God is able.
