Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Our Theme for the day: “THE BLUEPRINT” Part 8 (LOVE AT HOME Part 1)
The proclamation by God to the World to honor thy father and thy mother back in 2500 B.C was something that should not be taken lightly in our day. Infect, long life is attached and promised to all who keep this commandment of the Decalogue.
We have finished the first table of the Decalogue which deals with man’s relationship and obligation to God, the creator of the heavens and the earth. These first four commands from the Decalogue warn men against irreverence and impiety in word and deed to there maker, the how and when to worship is also found there. When you analyze the last six commandments of the Decalogue, or the second tablets, they deal with human relationship.
One person once said, “The regulations of the human relations begin with the family life in the home, the place where society has its origin.” The family life is the most important and fundamental unit in not just society, but also any government. The lost of respect for parental authority and obedience to parental law are the foundation of all disorder and disorganization in the earth. The Family is the heart of the community, church, and of the nation.
Today as we look around our countries and see the ills that confront them, we must do something. But our only answer for a healing lies in the family. In these dark days we can still have hope. Better days of prosperity, and elevation, over the lost of hope. Deterioration of morals and common manners to parents and those in authority depend on our right understanding of the fifth commandment.
The reality of the matter is,
As goes the respect for the fifth commandment, so goes the respect for society.
As goes the respect for the fifth commandment, so goes the respect for the nation.
As goes the respect for the fifth commandment, so goes the respect for the world.
Today we are witnessing the ruin of our country and the world through the fragmentation of the family by the disrespect to parental care, and the fifth commandment of the Decalogue. Let us take some time today to think of one way in which we can bring respect back to the family (parent), society (community, and the world (Governments). Let us work to bring love back to our homes.
