Today is a great day to praise the LORD for the things He is doing around the world through all Ministries. Although the work of spreading the gospel in different countries is moving ahead by human hands, it is not advancing as it should advance, yet, that which has been accomplished affords reason for gratitude and grounds for encouragement. To add to this great work of finishing the work of God is this ministry (Garden Ministry). We need your help; more and more people are seeking for Garden Ministry to be translated into their language. Have you ever wondered what the result of those who honor their parents is in this life and the world to come? The Bible explains that people who honor their parents by lives of subjection and implicit willingness, and joyful obedience will be richly rewarded in this life and the world to come, Ephesians 6:2-3 / Deuteronomy 5:16. That means, they would be more happy, useful, and virtuous if they obeyed their parents than if they disobeyed them. They would have a better quality of life here, and will not suffer pain, sickness, or death in the world to come. Revelation 21:3-5 / Revelation 21: 22-27 / Revelation 22:3 etc.
What are some of the blessings that come to those who are living in obedience to their parents?
(a) Obedient children are saved from the vices and crimes which shorten life. No parent will command his child to be a drunkard, a gambler, a spendthrift, a pirate, or a murderer. But these vices and crimes, resulting in most cases from disobedience to parents, all shorten life; and they who early commit them are certain of on early grave. No child who disobeys a parent can have any "security" that he will not fall a victim to such vices and crimes.
(b) Obedience to parents is connected with virtuous habits that are conducive to long life. It will make a child industrious, temperate, and sober; it will lead him to restrain and govern his wild passions; it will lead him to form habits of self-government which will in future life save him from the snares of vice and temptation.
(c) Many a life is lost early by disobeying a parent. A child disobeys a father and goes into a dramshop; or he goes to sea; or he becomes the companion of the wicked - and he may be wrecked at sea, or his character on land may be wrecked forever. Of disobedient children there is perhaps not one in a hundred that ever reaches an honored old age.
(d) We may still believe that God, in his providence, will watch over those who are obedient to a father and mother. If he regards a falling sparrow Matthew 10:29, he will not be unmindful of an obedient child; if he numbers the hairs of the head Matthew 10:30, he will not be regardless of the little boy that honors him by obeying a father and mother. One of the greatest evils of the modern world is not information, but a lack of regard for authority, be it parental, civil, or divine. The question was asked a group of people “Where do you think this lack of regard is coming from?” They all agreed, from the home. In the family, if children are not controlled and disciplined by their parents while they are young, they will seldom be able to be controlled and disciplined by their parents form 13 to 35 years of age. Those who respect parental law will usually respect the civil law, and ultimately the Ten Commandment through the power of God.
Finally, John H. Powell in his book, “The Ten Commandments” p. 66 said, [If] “You let children grow up in homes where there is either no authority, or a purely arbitrary one, [and] you get a generation of lawless people, who respect no authority outside themselves, and have none within themselves.” This is what we find in this generation. He goes on by saying, “There was a revolt against the arbitrary harshness of our grandfathers, and as a result, our generation grew up with little or no discipline.” This is our lot, we as a people have created this mess, and everyone knows, “That, without discipline it is impossible to live a well-ordered life. But discipline must be imposed,” for the good of us all. It’s time to resurrect the standard of discipline that creates law abiding citizens. It’s time to shout from the roof-tops that we will stand for nothing less than successful, forward-looking citizens.
Too long has this Biblical standard been transformed into the wine card of the cocktail bar and parties. While our children are left to fend for themselves, and their immature minds are entertained by the demons of Hell. Any parent who allows their child or the children in their neighborhood to run willy-nilly through life, obeying every selfish impulse will face the judgment of God and His wrath. May God give us all wisdom to teach our children right.
