Text for the day: 2
“Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.”
Our Theme for the day: “New
Today is a good time to start a new challenge that can both straighten and feed your family. To many, you may not benefit right away from what your about to read, but if you stick to the plan out-lined you and your family will benefit. With health insurance on the rise and food bills not coming down it is time for all to device a plan to straighten and feed their house-holds physically, mentally, and spiritually. Sometimes I ask myself, if my mother and father made it with ten children at home, why is it that so many families today find it so hard with just one or two children to survive? This is not to say that all my mothers’ children have made it in life, but they all know what is right from wrong and their choices have made them what they are today. The answer too many of our problems today, may be found in that we as a nation have forgotten the teaching of our parents and grand-parents and their parents in the way they brought up the family.
We may try many things to combat the new challenges of the ages. B ut with out preparation and the proper setting aside of something for a rainy day, most families will find themselves at the some place next year this time. These two ingredients, preparation before starting something, and having a savings account for a rainy day will correct over half of our ills of most families. This principal is enforce through scripture, “For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish’? Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand? Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace.” Luke 14:28-32 (New K ing James V ersion)
We are living in a new age, the age of can all you get, and spend all you can. With the spending of money out of control not just by the ordinary person in the street, but also by most governments around the world, it is clear that it want be long till a major break down brings the entire world to its feet. This is the middle of August, and during this time of the year most people with children are busy trying to get them fitted for school at all levels. This preparation takes on new meaning for those who are schooling their children for the first time. To see that your child gets the best out of their schooling here are a few tips. A. Do not neglect to tell your child that their time is important, use it wisely. B . Help your child work out a schedule so they can keep on top of their work. C . Remind them that summer is over and they are like you improving them selves for a better day. M id August is also a time for getting back into the garden for those who love to garden. To those who prepare early, they will see a fruitful harvest this gardening season. B ut bare in mind that preparation is only the first step if you are going to be a good gardener, you must learn the art of setting aside something for a rainy day.
To those who learn these two points, they will have plenty in to eat in times of need. Like going to school and beginning the new season of gardening, we may need to put some things off when considering a new challenge. Starting something new may be challenging, but if it is Gods will don’t put it off. Today is the best day to start. This is also a good day to start to make perpetration for the second coming of Jesus if you haven’t already started, and or if you are walking with Jesus, to tell one person what the second coming of Jesus means to you.
All of this can never be accomplished until we also learn the art of setting aside time to know God’s will, and his high calling in our life. We are all faced with new challenges every day, but we must ask God to help us to overcome these challenges. There are solemn and important decisions to be made today, and God wants every one of us to stand in a right relationship to Him. He wants us to do a great deal more praying and a great deal less talking. He wants us to keep the windows of our soul opened heaven, that we may have a fruitful walk with Him both now and forever more. Remember it is your preparation and storing up of the promises of God now that will give you a rich reward during the days of spiritual famine before Jesus comes. Why not purify yourself from everything that contaminates your body and spirit today? You can by the power of the Holy Spirit prefect holiness out of reverence for God. Why not except the challenge today?
