Text for the day: Acts 6:6

They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them.

Our Theme for the day:A Day to Reorganize” (Part 2)

Our Devotional

In the early days of the New Testament Church, brethren sold their possessions, had all things common, and took care of the PHYSICAL needs of their own widows and orphans. In the 6th chapter of Acts, we notice in the first verse, the Grecians complained against the Hebrews, because their widows and orphans were being neglected in the daily ministration of material needs. The disciples said, "It is not reason that we should leave THE WORD OF GOD and serve tables. Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men ... whom we may appoint over this business" (Verses 2-3). Seven men were found and they were appointed over this business -- but what business? Note it in your Bible! The business of waiting on tables -- of feeding, serving, the material needs of the widows and orphans! And why were they appointed?

The Bible says to free up the apostles where that they might devote their time to the preaching of the gospel. But the business of ministering to the physical needs of the people where put on the seven deacons. These men were called by the Holy Spirit because of their commitment, fullness of the spirit of God, and wisdom. They also represented a broad class of the people; so must it be today in all lines of Gods work, committees made up of representatives from all lines of the work. These men were also presented to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them. These men where set aside for a Holy work according to their gifts. The CHURCH OF GOD, which is the body of Christ, needs more of the POWER OF GOD -- more of HIS LOVE -- of HIS HOLY SPIRIT, that the work may go forth in the MIGHTY POWER of Jesus name, according to the gifts of her members! As Gods work goes forth in the highways and byways of the earth in these last days, there is also a greater need for intercessory prayer for those who are called to work on the front line of the work.

Hezekiah Walker said it right in his song, “I Need You to Survive” when he said, “I need you, you need me. We're all a part of God's body. Stand with me, agree with me. We're all a part of God's body. It is his will, that every need be supplied. You are important to me, I need you to survive. You are important to me, I need you to survive. I pray for you, you pray for me. I love you, I need you to survive. I won't harm you with words from my mouth. I love you, I need you to survive. It is his will, that every need be supplied. You are important to me, I need you to survive.” It is time to put away our selfish, grasping policies, and stand as true to principle as the needle to the pole. It is also time to put away our sharp dealings which have resulted in losses instead of gains in the moving of Gods church here on earth. Singling out those we love in any line of Gods work and deliberately overlooking others is not the spirit of Christ.

“God means what He says. He calls for a change. The same things are being repeated, the same ideas followed, the same committees appointed. In a small section a king reigns, and all others are secondary, when there are other men who are better able to do the work, because they have not been working on narrow plans.”--Ibid. {5BIO 78.1} God wants every worker in these times to stand shoulder to shoulder. The principles of heaven are to be carried out in every family, in the discipline of every church, in every establishment, in every institution, in every school, and in everything that shall be managed under the blood stain banner of price Immanuel. You have no right to manage or lead, unless you manage in God's order. The question today is, “are you under the control of God, and “do you see your responsibility to Him?” Remember, I need you, you need me. We're all a part of God's body. Stand with me, agree with me. We're all a part of God's body. It is his will, that every need be supplied. Let us propose in our hearts to work together to this end.
