WHO IS IT THAT JUDGETH? (Part 2) BREAKING THE BOUNDARIES

This is the 129th letter:

Text for the day: Matthew 7:15

Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves

Our Theme for the day: WHO IS IT THAT JUDGETH? (Part 2) BREAKING THE BOUNDARIES

Our Devotional

If you ask some young adults what they think of the police. You will probably get a range of responses. Some will say they hate the police. They may have been treated badly by them, or seen it happen to a friend. Some may disagree with some of the laws that police enforce. Others may have a positive view, because they have been helped by a police officer when they were in trouble, or they have been affected by crime. All will agree that what ever happens in the news influences most of our youth’s views of the police. Television and movie portrayals of police may also play a role. Some people hate the police even though they have never personally had any encounters with them—why is that? If one police officer behaves badly, does that mean that all police officers do? Our youth need to consider how and why they have formed their views of the police.

Where do their opinions come from? To form an opinion about some-one is nothing sinister about that, as long as the motive is good. But where most people get in trouble is, they form negative opinions which leads to a lost of trust by their fellow men, and finally lost of heaven. Judging is one thing, but when it is mixed with the cover up of false love for service, then you have false workers, or servants of God. These are wolves in sheep clothing of which Jesus spoke of when He said, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves, (Matthew 7:15). So what is the work of the true servant of God? God has laid upon His true servants the work of reproving the erring, but in love. This is the child of Gods’ calling. God has forbidden and denounced the thoughtless judging so commonly pretest among professed believers in His word, especially those in leadership position.

If you are really working with God, then you should put away all unkind criticism, and draw together with your brothers and sisters in unity. Those who are called servant leaders need to study the Lord's teaching in regard to this. Christ desires His children to stand shoulder to shoulder, united in the work of fighting the battles of the cross. He desires unity between those who work with Him to be as close as the union between Him and His Father. If you have felt the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit will you heed the lessons of the divine teacher? If you have seen the goodness of the Lord, will you show by your sincerity, and do all in your power to work in harmony with your brethren. When one by his words or deeds gives occasion for unfavorable judgment, the consequence must come upon his own soul. "What so ever a man soweth, that shall he also reap" Galatians 6:7. Notice how this text begins. “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: In other words, don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God.

What a person plants, he will harvest. The person, who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others, is really ignoring God! You shall harvest a crop of weeds. All you will have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God's Spirit do the growth work in him, will harvest a crop of real life, eternal life. For whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. If you are in the habit of judging people, a co-worker, a spouse, children, or any one, please stop. This is not our calling; it is not safe for finite man to take upon himself the responsibility of judging others, for we cannot read the heart. We as self-centered human beings are inclined to judge according to appearances, and hence make grave mistakes. More than this, we are imperfect, and for this reason are not qualified to sit in judgment on others. Jesus said, “And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye? Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye. When one is very forward to criticize and try to correct others, it is too often the case that he himself has faults, of which he may be all unconscious, that are far more serious than those that he condemns, and thus even when he tries to correct others, his efforts may do far more harm than good. How much more when he sits in judgment to criticize and condemn! If we could see ourselves as God sees us, then we would have such a sense of our own weakness and defects, and would see such a work to be done for ourselves. When we sense our own need of cleansing, long-suffering, and mercy of God, then we would have forbearance for our fellowmen, and no disposition to judge or condemn others.
