His lord said unto him, well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
Our Theme for the day: Stand Part. 2 (Small Things)
Today, our title in the theme is, “Small Things.” It is said of Joseph that he had simple trust, and a noble nature. In his youth he bore fruit in the deeds of the man. A pure and simple life had favored the vigorous development of both his physical and intellectual powers. Communion with God through His works and the contemplation of the grand truths entrusted to the inheritors of faith had elevated and ennobled his spiritual nature, broadening and strengthening his mind as no other study could do. As you read the account of Joseph life, you can see that he had given faithful attention to duty in every station, from the lowliest to the most exalted; he had been training every power for its highest service. It is said that, “He who lives in accordance with the Creator's will is securing to himself the truest and noblest development of character.” (Patriarchs and Prophets by E.G White P.222)
Josephs’ Father understood the importance of good character building, so he trained his sons to work and not just sit around, and do nothing all day. Neither did he encourage them to pretend that they where working, when they where not. His motto in life was, “if you are looking to stand tomorrow, than you must make full proof of yourself, and your preparation today.” The old saying is still good today; small things make the big difference. There are few who realize the influence of the small things of life upon the development of character. Nothing with which we have to do is really small. The varied circumstances that we meet day by day are designed to test our faithfulness and to qualify us for greater trust.
As a servant of God, or one who is coming back to Him, I must ask you these questions. How are you making out with your small things in life? Are you faithfully fulfilling your task, or do you leave it for someone else to do? Remember, an upright character is of greater worth than the gold of Ophir. Without it none can rise to an honorable eminence. But character is not inherited. It cannot be bought. Moral excellence and fine mental qualities are not the result of accident. The most precious gifts are of no value unless they are improved. Are you improving your gifts today, or working on improving them.
The formation of a noble character is what we must work toward, but it is the work of a lifetime and must be the result of diligent and persevering effort. God has given to all man opportunities; and your success, and my success, yes our success, depends upon the use made of them. Let us help the people we come in contact with today to understand this most important truth. It’s not the big things in life that make all the difference, but the small things.
We are into our fifth week, since Garden Ministry got started and it is growing with new people asking to subscribe to it each day. If you are gaining spiritual muscle mass, and strength through Garden Ministry, and would like to help some-one else gain Spiritual muscle mass and strength also. Then why not send Garden Ministry your Testimony? Every Monday of the seventh week, Garden Ministry would like to share your Testimony with our faithful viewers and readers. So let us look back over these weeks and ask ourselves, which letter or message from Garden Ministry helped me to hold on to my faith? Look up and push on in the name of Jesus.
Our Prayer for today:
Remember, you’re the only Jesus some will ever see.
