VALUES

This is the 156th letter:

Text for the day: Joel 2:12, 13

Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn you even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness

Our Theme for the day: “Values”

Our Devotional

A millionaire walked into a shop one day and looked around for a few minutes. When he was finish looking, he asked the store owner how much world a photo of a man hanging up behind the counter cost. The owner looked at the picture and then said to the millionaire, “it is priceless.” As the millionaire stood there he said to the owner, “I am a millionaire, and I will be willing to give you what ever is your price.” Still the owner refused. As the millionaire looked at the owner of the store, he asked him, “Why you would turn down so great an offer?” The owner said, “I know that many who come into this store and see this picture behide the counter say to themselves this looks like an ordinary picture.” But this is not an ordinary! It is the picture of my great - great grand father. It is not the picture that is worth all the money you would give, but the sentimental value that is placed on it.”

As the millionaire lift the shop that day, he finally saw that money could buy almost all things, except those things with values. This reminds me of the great value that God places on mankind. After God made the earth and all the things that are in it, he then got down on the earth, and made the crowning act of all creation, men. To God this was more valuable then all His works. After the fall of men, God could have given up and destroyed mankind. But He didn’t. Instead, God honored them by showing how greatly He values them. In Genesis 3:15 we are brought face to face with the price God puts on all mankind. God would put all heaven up for our resume, in the coming of Jesus to this earth to save. As we look back on that great sacrifice, we would never fully understand the value placed on our lives in this present world. But the Bible says we are bought with a price, even the precious blood of the Son of God.

As you look over the last 24 hours of your life, can you remember the things you’ve done; can you rightfully say that if God was in your very presents you would have done half of the things you did, or let some-one do to you? On another point do you appreciate the value God has placed on you? It is said, “When His heritage shall conscientiously follow the Word of the Lord, His blessing will rest upon them in answer to their prayers.” “Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn you even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: and rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness." (Joel 2:12, 13).

I shall leave you with this poem.

Values

God values those who make the Bible their primary reference for life's direction and qualities.

God values those who strive for excellence in all that they do.

God values those who stand for ethical and moral conduct at all times and in all relationships.

God values those who are not afraid of creativity and innovation in the completion of the finishing of the gospel in this generation.

God values honesty, integrity, and courage as the foundation of those who call themselves His children in every action and motive.

God values trust in one another, especially in those who are looking for his second coming.

God values all men who worship Him with a true heart as His children, and therefore they are brothers and sisters of one family.

The question today is: what do you value of most impotents?

Remember, the pursuit of the mission of the church of God, while maintaining or and pursuing your own goals can never be accomplished. We must first repent and give up our selfish views, then ask God to give you the power to be responsible and willing to follow His values.
