"God is bigger then us."

This is the 165th letter:

Text for the day: Galatians 6:7

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man sow, that shall he also reap.

Our Theme for the day: “God is bigger then us.”

Our Devotional

Someone once told me in life, never think that you are the big cheese, because there is always someone bigger then you and that someone is God. Success in life is good, but sometimes success can have its set backs also. To help us understand this better I must draw your attention to an E-mail someone sent me a few months ago. “These are some men and women who thought they where bigger than God and mocked Him.
John Lennon (Singer): Some years before, during his interview
with an American magazine, he said Christianity
will end, it will disappear. I do not have to argue about that.... I am certain. JESUS was ok, but HIS subjects were too simple, today we are more famous than HIM' (1966). Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than JESUS CHRIST, was shot six times.

Tancredo Neves (President of Brazil): During the Presidential campaign, he said if he got 500,000 votes from his party, not even GOD would remove him from Presidency.. Sure, he got the votes, but he got sick a day before being made President, then he died.

Cazuza: (Bi-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet): During a show in Canecio ( Rio de Janeiro ), while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: 'GOD, that's for YOU.' He died at the age of 32 of LUNG CANCER in a horrible manner.

The man who built the Titanic: After the construction of the Titanic, a reporter asked him how safe the Titanic would be with an ironic tone he said: 'Not even GOD can sink it.' The result: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic

Marilyn Monroe (Actress): She was visited by Billy Graham during a presentation of a show. He said the SPIRIT of GOD had sent him to preach to her. After hearing what the Preacher had to say, she said: I don't need your JESUS'. A week later, she was found dead in her apartment.

Bon Scott (Singer): The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs, he sang: 'Don't stop me; I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell'. On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead. He had been choked by his own vomit.

Campinas (IN 2005): In Campinas , Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend. The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter, holding her hand, who was already seated in the car: 'My daughter, go with GOD and may HE protect you.' She responded: 'Only if HE (GOD) travels in the trunk, 'cause inside here....it's already full.' Hours later news came that they had been involved in a fatal accident. Everyone had died. The car could not be recognized as to what type of car it had been, but, surprisingly, the trunk was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs. None was broken.

Christine Hewitt (Jamaican Journalist and entertainer) said the Bible (Word of GOD) was the worst book ever written. In June 2006 she was found burnt beyond recognition in her motor vehicle.

Many more important people have forgotten that there is no other name that was given so much authority as the name of JESUS. Many have died, but only JESUS died and rose again, and HE is still alive.” When the Bible speaks of those who are working with God in ministry, (what ever that job may be), it calls them witnesses and servants. "Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am He: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the Lord; and beside me there is no Saviour. I have declared, and have saved, and I have showed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses." "I the Lord have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; to open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house." Isaiah 43:10-12; 42:6.

Today let us answer this question? Am I working with the Lord, or against Him? The answer to this question is simple. If you are seeking fame in what you do, then you are working against God. But if you are seeking to help others first, second, and last, then you are building up the kingdom of God. The next time you are tempted to think of your-self bigger than you are, stop and think of Jesus. It is said Him “The Saviour's life on earth was not a life of ease and devotion to Himself, but He toiled with persistent, earnest, untiring effort for the salvation of lost mankind. From the manger to Calvary He followed the path of self-denial and sought not to be released from arduous tasks, painful travels and exhausting care and labor. He said, "The Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many." Matthew 20:28. This was the one great object of His life. Everything else was secondary and subservient. It was His meat and drink to do the will of God and to finish His work. Self and self-interest had no part in His labor.” Chapter 9 Steps to Christ by Ellen G. White

"It's Hot Potato time" (Part 2) Turn away from fables

This is the 164th letter:

Text for the day: 2 Timothy 4:4

“And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.”

Our Theme for the day: “It’s Hot Potato time” (Part 2) Turn away from fables

Our Devotional

As I was up this morning in prayer with the Lord, I sensed a deep longing in my life for a word from Him. “At this point, I’ll love to speak to our new readers of Garden Ministry. Take out time with the Lord. Early in the morning find time for you and Him in prayer, and you will be the better for it.” As I was looking up into the heavens speaking and listening to God, after some time I notice an object going across the sky at a quick speed. It was a satellite, doing the job it was built to do. As the Lord and I finished talking together, “He said to me, go back and look at second Timothy four verses two and four.” “There is something I need to show you and all my children from these texts.”

But first let us read the text, “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” 2Timothy 4:2-4

This is that message. Today we are witnessing in our land through the evil spirits of violence, distortion, boastfulness, false pride, disobedient to parents, unthankful-ness, and just outright badness as a way of life is a clear evidence of what it was like in the days of Noah. The Bible says, “Every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Genesis 6:5. But this was and still is the outgrowth of a people who have forgotten God. Have you ever asked your-self what led the people of Noah’s day to a place of no return, and what is leading the people today in the same direction? The answer is simple; they listened to false teachers and preachers who had turned the truth of God into a lie. The Bible teaches that no one is to put truth to the torture by cheap imaginings, by putting a forced, mystical construction upon it. If they do, they are in danger of turning the truth of God into a lie.

There are those who need in their hearts the touch of the divine Spirit. Then the message for this time will be their burden. They will not search for human tests, for something new and strange. As the people of Noah’s day had a test, and to those who heeded where saved. So it is that God has a test for His people in these last days. The Sabbath of the fourth commandment is the test for this time.   There is among young men a burning desire to get hold of something new, even though it is of the cheapest quality. The Lord would not have the mind dwell on unprofitable nothings, seeking for what it will never find. He desires us to seek for a pure, clean soul, a soul washed and made white in the blood of the Lamb. It is the white robe of Christ's righteousness that gives the sinner admittance into the presence of the heavenly angels. Not the color of his hair, but his perfect obedience to all God's commandments, opens to him the gates of the Holy City. The people of God must move to the high road if they are to be saved. The high road is the right road, not the cheap road which leads to death. Let us take the high road today.

Join us next time for another ray of sunshine from Garden Ministry.

Our Prayer for today:

Lord on this bless morning we ask that you will take us to the

high road, and keep us there in Jesus name.

"It's Hot Potato time" (Part 1)

This is the 163rd letter:

Text for the day: 2 Timothy 4:2

Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.

Our Theme for the day: “It’s Hot Potato time” (Part 1)

Our Devotional

Have you ever picked up a hot potato with your bare hands? How did your hand feel after? Did you put your hand in water, or did you just take the pain? Many years ago, my family was planning a day at the beach with all ten of my mother’s children, and of cause our friends. On the morning of the outing everyone had something to do. Mom was up early, because we had to have ginger bread, and no one made it like her. One of the older sisters had to make sure the younger children had their breakfast and then ready to go at the set time. In those day, one thing about the family every one worked together. To this day I could not tell who it was that put the potatoes on for the salad, but no one was to touch them while they where cooling. While we the younger children where waiting, I decided to look into the potato pot to see if they were cool enough.

The next thing my mother heard was a load noise coming from my mouth. While no one was looking I decided to pick up one of the potatoes with my hands. Oh the pain! My hand that day received an unnecessary mark with pain because I was not following instruction. This experience reminds me of those who do not listen to the instruction led out by the Lord in the Bible for our good.

Time does may change but Gods word remains the same. , but the word of God remains the same. Some think that in order to reach the mass’s we need to change the way we do things to fit “modern” times. This may be true with some things, but not with the revealed things of God. Man has no right to change these things. Preaching is one of those things that have changed over the years, but not always for the better. Public preaching and teaching today should be firstly Biblical, positive, direct and inspirational.

The preaching of the gospel should not be plain, theatrical, or go to the extreme, but Holy Spirit filled. Real preaching and teaching is also done in humility, reverence, kindness and in earnestness. The good news of the gospel brings unity to the home, church and community. It’s like a hot potato, when you pick it up, or allow God to apply it to your life, you can’t help but cry out load with a heavenly sound, “God is good, Hallelujah.” On one occasion as D L Moody was giving a message to a number of people he said, “Where there is union I do not believe any power, earthly or infernal, can stand before the work. When the church, the pulpit, and the pew get united, and God’s people are all of one mind, Christianity is like a red hot ball rolling over the earth, and all the hosts of death and hell cannot stand before it.” D L Moody “Prevailing Prayer,” Page 56

At a time to be different, in a race to be first in how things are done in ministry, remember, it’s not about us, but Jesus. To all my brothers, and sisters, don’t stop preaching Jesus from your please of calling. Don’t try to be so complex, that you need an interpreter to break down your message. Be simple, direct and positive, but never forget to instruct, reprove, rebuke, and exhort. Be urgent in your delivery in season, and out of season. Don’t forget that God has called you to preach the word in word and deed with all longsuffering, in love and gentleness. But firmness and truth should never be compromised. The world needs such bold and heroic preaching as will rebuke sin even in high places, and all who are guilty of public and private sins should be led open, like a hot potato. Finally, generalities are pointless in Gods economy which causes parishioners to live compromised lives. It is no time to be tame, and powerless, but like a hot potato which will cause all who touch it, to be marked and changed.
