This is the 151st letter:
Text for the day: Job 22:21
Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.
Our Theme for the day: STAND ON HIS WORD (Part 4) “A Positive Influence”
Our Devotional
John C. Maxwell said, “Influence is the ability to get people to say "yes". Manager, marketer, sales person, trainer, coach or parent, your effectiveness is directly correlated to your ability to influence. He goes on to say, “Influence is when you effectively alter someone else’s perceptions, views, beliefs, attitudes, decisions thus altering their actions.” We may not all believe it, but we are all bearing witness to something. With that witness or influence we either bring life or death to someone. Did you not know that you not only can encourage others through a positive influence? But you can promote your own health through just having a positive influence.
Donald Lawrence and the Tri-City Singers saw the vision, and now share the message in their song, “I Speak Life.” “I speak life you gonna live oh my brother my sister. I speak life you are the head and not the tail you will prevail. I speak life don't give up the fight for your life. You shall live and not die.
The Refine:
Life to your spirit, life to your soul, Lord bless your spirit, by his words be made whole. Fight for your life, you shall live and not die.”
It is on that last point in the song, that we can make a difference in bringing life to some-one today. On the other hand, if you dwell in an atmosphere of negativity, you not only injure your own soul, but you encourage others to follow your example, and the end thereof you will find to be death. That is why we should prize the right frame of mind as we study the word of God.
It is important for you and your growth in the Lord, and others, as you minister to them about the Lord. The spirit you bring to each time you study the Bible, is the spirit you receive instruction to be a positive or negative servant of God. Let me pause by asking you a few questions. Is Jesus fully in your thoughts first thing in the morning, or is He crowded out? Have you allowed vanity and the folly of this world to take the place of the Bible? Are you feasting on the word, or have you allowed your mind to become perverted, and corrupted? When was the last time you took one of Gods many promises and claimed it for the good of your community, work place, school, and home? Better still, when was the last time you shared that promise with some-one else? Are you so fixed on yourself that you forgot about the people you where called to serve? When was the last time some-one said to you, thank you for allowing me the privilege of seeing God in you?
Fisher DeBerry is a well know football coach. In his book, “The Power of Influence: Life-Changing Lessons from the Coach,” He says, “Success in coaching is not measured by the number of wins and losses. Real success in coaching is measured by the kind of people your players become. We all have an influence for good or evil. Today God is calling us to not just profess our religion of Jesus, but to live it. We are not just called to believe the truth merely, but to live it, because the Bible teaches it. Let us find time to search the Scriptures more today. Then we shall know for ourselves that we are well-grounded in the hope, once delivered to the saints. Friends we must have our own experience in the things of God. Acquaint yourselves with the word of God, that if need be, you can tell others your reasons for believing as you do. But note there is another reason why we should acquaint ourselves with the word.
In our text for the day, Job reminds us to, “Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: thereby good shall come unto thee.” Job 22:21. Like no other God is longing for our peace and good all the days of our life. Let us lay aside vain reading, and turn to God's word. Fix your mind upon God, and humbly confess your sin to Him. “I speak life you gonna live oh my brother my sister. I speak life you are the head and not the tail you will prevail. I speak life; don't give up the fight for your life.
You shall live and not die.
The Refine:
Life to your spirit, life to your soul, Lord bless your spirit, by his words be made whole. Fight for your life, you shall live and not die.
