Encouraging workers in the field of the Lord.

Your Treasure

This is the 134th letter:

Text for the day: John 17:11-12 (King James Version)

And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

Our Theme for the day: Your Treasure

Our Devotional

The value of a treasure is not base on the stock market or popularity of the person or thing. I have known and still know several people who spend hours showering their attention on their favorite TV shows, pets, work or hobbies, making it very clear that their loved ones come in dead last in their priorities. When one looks at the high rate of divorce among Christians, you have to ask why the love has ended. The answer can only be found in an eleven latter word, “selfishness”. However, selfishness by itself is not just the cause of the fall of the Christian home; it is only part of the factor in the fragmented family. There is another part to the brake up of the home and that is, the lost of its value which is its treasure to the single minded husband, wife, and children. You have heard the saying, family is everything, and it really is. Before the TV came, there was the family.

So it was before the pets, work or hobbies came, there was the family. God made the Family and placed them in the garden. But after sin entered the world, they got very upset and started to pull away from each other. Unlike the remote of the TV, they couldn’t turn their relationship back on at their selfish command. They screamed, cried and blamed each other who became the victims instead of recognizing their own responsibility and the value of the treasure which is the family. We put things on the shelf when we are finish with it or throw it away. But humans cannot be put on a shelf and just taken out and used whenever you feel like it, then left unloved and ignored whenever you don’t want them. Humans must be valued for they are our greatest treasure from God. Today there is a great need for compromise and teamwork in the family.

Instead of working against each other, families need to work together. This reminds me of the church, which is liken to as a family, with Christ as our elder brother and God as our Father. The body of Christ which is the church needs to learn how to work together. In His prayer for the church in John chapter 17, Jesus asked the father to make His church one by saying, “And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me that they may be one, as we are.” In other words Jesus was saying, Holy Father, guard your church, our family, as they pursue their high calling through their gifts in me. So that they can be one in purpose, one in action, and one in mind. In closing, are you glad that you have been called to be apart of the family of God? Have you found your place of interest in the family and are you working in that special place designed by God for you?

Are your needs been ministered to or are you having problems with understanding what God has called you to do in these last days? Or are you selfishness, and controlling and feel that in order for things to succeed you must have your hands in is? It don’t matter what class you fit into we all must humble ourselves because we are family, and we need each other to survive. As servant leaders, today you must ask yourselves these questions. Am I apart of Gods family and I’m I really doing His will to foster the true value of the family and the church which is His treasure?

For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother” (Mark 3:35). What a precious truth!
