WHO WILL SING THE REDEMPTION SONG?

 

On October 7th, 1980, the song Redemption song was released by Bob Marley and the Wailers from the album Uprising. The song is reported to have been written around 1979, appearing for the first time on a demo tape called "Dada Demos". 

Some say the song is something of a last testament from reggae legend Bob Marley, as he continued to spread his message of emancipation far and wide.

The HONORABLE ROBERT NESTA MARLEY was born on February 6, 1945, in Nine Miles, St. Ann, Jamaica. He died on May 11, 1981, in Miami, Florida, U.S.

He was a Jamaican singer-songwriter whose thoughtful ongoing distillation of early ska, rock steady, and reggae musical forms blossomed in the 1970s into an electrifying rock-influenced hybrid that made him an international superstar. "Bob Marley was an incredible Pan-Africanist who used music to fight back against imperialism and elevate the struggle for Pan-African liberation and self-determination. Even though dead, his music still carries the strength and weight of human dignity."

Over the years, “Redemption Song” has touched many people's lives. Motivational speakers have spoken on it. Preachers have preached sermons about it. Children and grandmothers have danced to the lyrics of it. Young adults and adults, with grandfathers, have meditated on it.

The HOLY SCRIPTURES, teaches us, “The laborer for souls needs integrity, intelligence, industry, energy, and tact. This is clearly seen through the book of Revelation. John the Revelator saw in vision the saints, those who were redeemed from sin, and the earth, singing the Redemption song. "And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.

3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

4 Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest." Revelation 15:2-4. 

“After this I looked and saw a multitude too large to count, from every nation and tribe and people and tongue, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and holding palm branches in their hands. And they cried out in a loud voice: “Salvation to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!”… Revelation 7:9-10. 

“And in that day thou shalt say, O LORD, I will praise thee: though thou wast angry with me, thine anger is turned away, and thou comfortedst me. Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation. Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation. And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted. Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth. Cry out and shout, thou inhabitant of Zion: for great is the HOLY ONE OF ISRAEL in the midst of thee.” Isaiah 12:1–6.

Therefore, the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away. Isaiah 51:11. 

As we have seen, “Singing is one of the most effective means of impressing the heart with spiritual truth. How often to the soul hard-pressed and ready to despair, memory recalls some word of God's,--the long-forgotten burden of a childhood song,--and temptations lose their power, life takes on new meaning and new purpose, and courage and gladness are imparted to other souls! . . . As a part of religious service, singing is as much an act of worship as is prayer. Indeed, many a song is prayer. . . . As our Redeemer leads us to the threshold of the Infinite, flushed with the glory of God, we may catch the themes of praise and thanksgiving from the heavenly choir round about the throne; and as the echo of the angels' song is awakened in our earthly homes (today), hearts will be drawn closer to the heavenly singers. Heaven's communion begins on earth. We learn here the keynote of its praise," as we sing the redemption song.”

Putting it another way, “Difficulties will arise that will try your faith and patience. Face them bravely. Look on the bright side. If the work is hindered, be sure that it is not your fault, and then go forward, rejoicing in the Lord. Heaven is full of joy. It resounds with the praises of Him who made so wonderful a sacrifice for the redemption of the human race. Should not the church on earth be full of praise? Should not Christians publish throughout the world the joy of serving Christ? Those who in heaven join with the angelic choir in their anthem of praise must learn on earth the song of heaven, the keynote of which is thanksgiving.”

WHO WILL SING THE REDEMPTION SONG?

He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the Lord, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah. Psalm 24:4-6. 

"There is a day just about to burst upon us when God's mysteries will be seen, and all His ways vindicated; when justice, mercy, and love will be the attributes of His throne. When the earthly warfare is accomplished, and the saints are all gathered home, our first theme will be the song of Moses, the servant of God. The second theme will be the song of the Lamb, the song of grace and redemption. This song will be louder, loftier, and in sublimer strains, echoing and re-echoing through the heavenly courts. Thus the song of God's providence is sung, connecting the varying dispensations; for all is now seen without a veil between the legal, the prophetical, and the gospel."

"On that day, when the conflict (between good and evil is over.) All tribulation and strife will be at an end. At this time, songs of victory will fill all heaven, as the redeemed stand around the throne of God. All the saved will take up the joyful strain, and say, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slain” and hath redeemed us to God."
