Our Light Affliction (A Christmas Day Special)

The trials of life are closely connected with our salvation, and how these light afflictions worked out for us “a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.

Text for the day: “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.” 2 Corinthians 4:17-18

Our Devotional

Today is Christmas in many parts of the world. On this day many will reflect on the gift of God in sending us Salvation through His son Jesus Christ the Lord. He came the Bible says to set the captive free. Free from pain and suffering, and free from shame and sin. To many, 2014 has been a challenging year. It doesn't matter who you are or where you come from, we have all had our challenges this year.

Just ask the Governments of the world, Councils, managements, professionals, non-professionals, the rich, the poor, the haves, and the have-not. One thing we have all learned this year is that there is no safety in men but God.

I have learned over the years that when one's mind is made up, great things can be done. It is said that, “this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear.” – Rosa Parks
In 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 the Apostle Paul reminds the believers in Jesus Christ that it doesn't matter what you or your love one is going through. You must hold on. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

In other words, "This affliction (this slight distress of the passing hour) or (slight trouble of the passing hour) is ever more and more abundantly preparing and producing and achieving for us an everlasting weight of glory [beyond all measure, excessively surpassing all comparisons and all calculations, a vast and transcendent glory and blessedness never to cease!],

If Paul, was troubled on every side, perplexed, and persecuted, and yet could call his trials light afflictions, of what has the Christian of today to complain? How trifling are our trials in comparison with Paul’s many afflictions! They are not worthy to be compared with the eternal weight of glory awaiting the overcomer.
We must see them as God’s workmen, ordained for the perfection of character. I have learned through all this, “However great the deprivation and suffering of us, be it physically, mentally, or otherwise. However dark, and inscrutable may seem the way of the hand of the Great Physician toward us in this test. We are to rejoice in the Lord. "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

Lastly, I would like you to join me in prayer for those around the who have suffered great lose this year, but are still holding on to their faith. In the coming year may our attitude, appreciation with a heart of love and kindness be open more to the needs of the needy. On a scale of one to ten, and the power of the manifestation of the problems in 2014 were about a seven and a half, which was unprecedented and unpredictable. Today we take this time to celebrate all who put their hand froth to help a family, or someone, this pass year. May your reward be in Heaven when Jesus comes.

If you’re going through a moment of headship today, my advice to you is to hold on. Because the hardship that you are called upon to encounter today will help you succeed tomorrow. Always remember that whatever you’re going through it’s not about you, it’s about Gods will through you.

Do You Have a Prayer Need?

Prayer Request:

  1.  I am seeking prayer for our daughter Kevina today. The need is total healing of her body and that God would keep her mind stayed on Him. Since last week she has made some big steps as to sitting on the side of her bed. She is walking around her bed. Yesterday Kevina made her biggest walk in a week and a half by walking from her bed to her door in her room. Then when the Physical therapists asked if she would like to walk further, she said, “YES!” All I am saying at this point is, “God is good!” Today when we got to the hospital room, all we could see was smiles and the news that Kevina had walked halfway around the ward. We are all happy for what our eyes have seen of the Lords’ mercy. In a few days’ time they (the hospital) are looking at moving her to Spaulding Rehab Center but they are waiting on a bed. This rehab center is run by Mass. General Hospital. Pray that Kevina will be able to move before Monday. Special thanks going out to all the prayer warriors for their continual prayers.
  2. The family of Mr. James is asking for prayer for healing of his sickness.
  3. Let us pray for Elizabeth Scott who is in Mass. General Hospital.
  4. May we take a minute during our Christmas meal to say a prayer for all Homeless
  5. Prayer is needed for all leaders around the world today as we move into a new year with new challenges.

Between 1993 and 2012, the violent crime rate in the world had dropped. According to the statistics there is a dramatic reduction in war deaths, family violence, racism, rape, homicide, robbery, aggravated assault, and murder. This runs counter to what the mass media is reporting. “The World is becoming less violent: despite global conflict. Statistics show that violence is in a steady decline.” World post reporter Seth Borenstein and researcher Julie Reed Bell

Text for the day: “A single witness shall not suffice against a person for any crime or for any wrong in connection with any offense that he has committed. Only on the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses shall a charge be established. Deuteronomy 19:15

The Lord gave me part of today's devotional on December 5, 2014. But he did not allow me to finish it and publish it until December 9, 2014.

Our Devotional

Today our hearts go out to the thousands of families that have had someone affected by a violent crime this year. Yet according to the statistics violent crimes around the world is going down. To this we ought to say thank you Lord. On the other hand violent crime in every country is looked upon by some as a sport, with those who commit the crime thinking that they are invincible and above the law. Let us take a look at the reason why people are being brought before the courts and finally convicted.

One may ask the question, “How can we overcome this problem?” The only solution to combat and add value to countries plagued with violent crimes is to first admit that we have a problem. The second thing to do is to take a deeper look at the cause of why violent crimes are committed.  Until these things are done no country will ever rightly answer the question of why violent crime is a moral concern.

In addressing these concerns one day Jesus pointed out to His disciples in Matthew 18:15-17, “If one of my followers sins against you, go and point out what was wrong. But do it in private, just between the two of you. If that person listens, you have won back a follower.  But if that one refuses to listen, take along one or two others. The Scriptures teach that every complaint must be proven true by two or more witnesses. If the follower refuses to listen to them, report the matter to the church. Anyone who refuses to listen to the church must be treated like an unbeliever.

In other words, if anyone commits a crime, after he or she is convicted go and point it out to them. But do it in private, just between the two of you. If that person listens, you have won back a citizen who if trained in the right way will become a follower of the lord and a helper to all mankind.  But if they refuse to listen, take along one or two others specialist as witnesses that it may be recorded that you have done everything in your power to help. If the person refuses to listen to them, report the matter to the higher authorities and treat them like a nonconformist.

Today tears are streaming down the face of a broken family, because a son, a daughter, has been taken away all too soon. But the question today is, “Is there any hope for a nonconformist?” Nick Miller once said, “When the future becomes the past, the concept of hope is called into question.” “It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble, how great the mistake. A sufficient realization of love will dissolve it all.” Emmet Fox

There is hope for the hopeless person in every country who finds joy in committing violent crime or senseless and brutal acts of violence, “Whether that person is a citizen or a law-enforcer who commits the crime!” There is hope for all! But in order to help them, it is of supreme importance that you hear aright, that you purify your hearts from selfishness, for your eternal welfare is at stake. Are you seeking for the Pearl of Great Price? Are you guarding yourselves against the deceptions of Satan, or do you stand ready to receive the suggestions of those who have departed from the faith, and given heed to seducing spirits? Your salvation depends on your hearing aright, and receiving with meekness the engrafted Word of God Almighty.

Will you be reconciled to God, and obey His commandments, that you may be sanctified, body, soul, and spirit? If we are going to do anything to help those convicted of a violent crime, we must wake up! Put away again our pride, and forsake our noncommittal position. The testing time has come, and we must take sides with Christ or against Him. On which side are you standing? Are you standing with the world or with Christ? Are you receiving the truth and preparing to speak a word in season to arrest the attention of the careless and the indifferent? God demands decided change in your attitude.

Are you seeking to arouse souls to take an interest in eternal realities, or earthly? Now is your time to learn how to work earnestly and intelligently for the salvation of those ready to perish. Make no compromise with the powers of darkness. Learn the claims of the law of God, and obey them heartily. Then your life will shine forth brightly amidst the spiritual darkness of the world. Remember, it is only through Jesus that you can reach out and touch somebody's hand.

Season of Thankfulness

“Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom.” ― Marcel Proust

Text for the day: "We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father." 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3

Our Devotional

Good day Colleagues and Friends,
Truly we have been blessed as we look back over the last few weeks since Kevina has been diagnosed with a rare cancer. People have called to encourage her and us in this test, and we say thank you. Prayer has been our greatest comfort and God is working through so many people taking out time to pray for healing and strength to go on for Kevina.

The church of the living God, that is God’s saints that are in every church and some that don’t go to any church, have blessed us through their warm words and support. For this we say thank you. Earlier this year, I told my wife, Karon, that God is going to do something big in our lives before the year ends; so said, so done, since April 1st, 2014 as we have suffered great lost.

One thing is clear, God has allowed our many test to come our way to seal our faith, and pull together His children. We take time today to praise God! We praise Him for all of you and our service providers who have put themselves in harm’s way at times to see that all have the best quality of life. Some of you have gone the extra mile to stay on the job when others could not make it in to their post of calling, for this we say thank you.

The song writer wrote, “In everything give Him thanks, give Him thanks. In everything give Him thanks. In the good times praise His name. In the bad times do the same. In everything give the King of Kings all the thanks.

In this season of giving thanks it is very important that people take time to listen, as it could mean life or death to someone in need of emergency care. Look outside of yourself and do something special to make someone suffering with a life threatening sickness hopeful. Don’t just talk about your desire to see a change of better health for them. Do something special for them and or their family like cutting their grass or some other kind deed. The impact of these kind acts will bring health to the sick, comfort to the family, and be in the minds of many onlookers for a number of years to come.

So why not allow the sweet spirit of unity, love, and good well to go before you today? May your day be filled with the blessings from God both now and forever more, and take time today to give thanks.

Something Happens

Affliction comes to us, not to make us sad but sober; not to make us sorry but wise. By H. G. Wells

Text for the day: But though he caused grief, yet will he have compassion according to the multitude of his mercies. For he doth not afflict willingly nor grieve the children of men. Lamentations 3:32, 33.

Our Devotional

With all the running around we did yesterday I did not get around to updating you on the progress of Kevina. Her follow up went well with the doctors, but they are concern with the swelling behind the eye. She is still in great pain at times when her eye is closed because of the tumor that was in the muscle. Pray as the pathologist is still working to present their finding to the doctors. Kevina has been very understanding through all of her trails. What a beautiful person she is.

When you think that this is it, sad to say there is more bad news. Today we got a call from our son Jonathan at Southern University in Chattanooga Tennessee that he has not been well for the last twenty four hours. He said that he has a fever and spasm to his neck. We told him to go to the hospital as it could be a number of things. Later on this evening Jonathan has gotten back from the hospital and called saying, “He had an infection in his lepnods and they are swollen.” With prayer a medicine, God has assured us that he will be well.

All Karon and I can say today, “the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” Job 1:21

The late Spurgeon, Charles speaking on this text once said, “I think these are the grandest words in the whole record of human speech. Considering the circumstances of the man at the time, that he should thus speak was, I think, a miracle of grace.”

Today we thank the Lord that He has called us to drink of the same cup of sorrow, which has been mingled with joy and rest and peace in Jesus. He doeth all things well. We have seen that our heavenly Father doth not willingly afflict and grieve the children of men....
Remember all; this world is the scene of trials, griefs, and sorrows. But we must bear the test of God. The fire of the furnace is to kindle till our dross is consumed and we come forth as gold purified in the furnace of affliction.... We know that light will come out of this darkness as the power of God’s mercy is hovering over our head even in this darkest hour. For we know that, “All things work together for good to them that love God.” Romans 8:28

Oh, the triumphs of almighty grace! May God grant us such patience, if he sends us such trials, and unto him shall be the glory evermore! No matter what you’re going through today, we ask you to stand fast in His strength; there is rest for you. Just call on the name of Jesus and see something happen!!!

A Wow Moment

Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. Psalm 68:19 (KJV)

Text for the day: He looked up and said, "I see people; they look like trees walking around." Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Mark 8:24-25

Our Devotional

A Wow moment is defined according to the urban Dictionary as a magical moment or memorable experiences. A Wow moment can also be defined as a way to express surprise or pleasure.

All I can say today is, “God is working on behalf of all of the prayer warriors that have been praying for the good health of Kevina. Just after a very serious operation on Friday October 31, 2014 at Mass. General in Boston to remove a tumor growing behind her left eye.

The Doctor spoke to me with an optimistic outlook that Kevina will recover from this great test. We still have to wait until Thursday to get the news on what type of tumor was taken out of Kevina. We as a family are thanking God for the way how He has Kevina in his hands. We are taken God at His word and trusting him with Kevina’s life that all things will work together for good.

Kevina should have had great pain and pain medicine after the surgery. But as the Lord would have it, He took away much of the pain, so they only gave her pain medicine twice. It has only been today November 2, 2014, that she spoke of any pain again.

But the greatest news ever today is that Kevina was given the OK to leave the hospital a day after her major operation. "Hallelujah" What a mighty God!! What a mighty God!! What a mighty God we serve!!

He did not just bring her through the operation; God has put His hand over her healing. This reminds me of the healing of the blind man in Mark 8:22-26.

The course of events recorded in Mark 8:22 are in many ways similar to those in the story of the deaf-mute man. Both stories took place in the same general region. In the story of the deaf-mute man, Jesus was on His way from Tyre and Sidon, traveling through the region of Decapolis. And so He would have been east of the Sea of Galilee. In today’s story Jesus is in Bethsaida on the northeast side of the Sea of Galilee. In both stories a man was led to Jesus, and those who brought him begged Jesus to touch him.

According to Dr. Ray Pritchard, he says that this healing is, “really two miracles in one, or more accurately, it is a two-stage miracle. After the first stage, the man can see but his vision is very blurry. Only when Jesus touches him a second time can he see clearly. Cloudy spiritual vision afflicts every person to some degree. None of us see as clearly as we ought to see spiritually. No one ever sees life with perfect clarity. All of us have spiritual nearsightedness to one degree or another.”

It is only when Jesus touches us, some a second, third, or fourth time, that we are made whole. I would like to extend the same invitation to you today that Jesus did to the blind man of Bethsaida. What healing are you longing for? Why not ask Jesus for it today? For I know He still answers prayers.

Kevina still needs our prayers over the next few days particularly as she needs extra help to move around. She has been given the OK to walk around in the hotel only, and nowhere else. She has to sleep sitting up in bed to keep the blood flowing properly to her head and left eye. God be praised! What a Wow Moment!!!

Take Heed

Hear the words of prudence, give heed unto her counsels, and store them in thine heart; her maxims are universal, and all the virtues lean upon her; she is the guide and the mistress of human life. Akhenaton

Text for the day: Therefore let anyone who thinks he stands [who feels sure that he has a steadfast mind and is standing firm], take heed lest he fall [into sin].  1 Corinthians10:12 AMP

Our Devotional

Many sincere religious people have been mistakenly led to believe that it is utterly impossible for a child of God to fall from the grace of God. But this is not true. Infact, the Bible teaches the opposite. When the Lord speaks of His people and their waywardness He says, “My people are bent on backsliding from me: though they call (take out "them" to him that is on high, none at all will exalt him” (Hos. 11:7). In other words, they are determined to turn away from me.

Moses had warned Israel of the possibility of their forgetting the Lord and the wonderful signs He had performed in the wilderness Deuteronomy 8:11-14; Then He said "that they should watch what you do!"

Be careful with their very life! Don’t forget the things they saw with their own eyes, and don’t let them fade from their memory. Remember (remind them) their whole mind; and teach them to their children and their grandchildren Deuteronomy 4:9.

The noble prophet Ezekiel declared: “When the righteous man turns away from this righteousness, and commits iniquity, and dies therein; in his iniquity that he has done shall he die” Ezekiel 18:26. With all the wisdom that one could have asked for, the greatest king that ever wielded a scepter was given. The question by many has been, “How could one that had been honored and applauded as the wisest among kings, became a humiliating wreck? How? Jesus was right when he said unto them, “Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.” Luke 12:15 KJV

“Solomon, once "a" noble character, bold and true for God and righteousness, became deteriorated. His profligate expenditure for selfish indulgence made him the instrument of Satan’s devices. His conscience became hardened. His conduct as a judge changed from equity and righteousness to tyranny and oppression.... Solomon tried to incorporate light with darkness, Christ with Belial, purity with impurity. But in the place of converting the heathen to the truth, pagan sentiments incorporated themselves with his religion. He became an apostate.” 27Manuscript 47, 1898.

Some believe that whatever they do, just rest with them, but this is not true neither. Like Solomon, the marks of our apostasy lived ages after us. In the days of Christ, the worshipers in the temple could look, just opposite them, upon the Mount of Offense, and be reminded that the builder of their rich and glorious temple, the most renowned of all kings, had separated himself from God, and reared altars to heathen idols; that the mightiest ruler on earth had failed in ruling his own spirit.

If the story stopped there, then there would be no hope for anyone. But Solomon went down to his death a repentant man; but his repentance and tears could not efface from the Mount of Offense, the signs of his miserable departure from God. Ruined walls and broken pillars bore silent witness for a thousand years to the apostasy of the greatest king that ever sat upon an earthly throne.

As you reflect on your life today, can you say that you are living a life of truth, or a lie? Are you living fully for Jesus, or are you still hanging in the darkness with the enemy? If you need help today, just call on Jesus and He will answer your cry, like he answered the cry of Solomon. Remember to always take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. To you who have falling from the grace of God, “Look now to Jesus, and let mercy rewrite your life.”

Testimonials:
Thursday July 17, 2014 will be a day we will never forget. The doctor came to my wife and said, “What he thought he would have to do with Kevina procedure he did not have to. Things were better than what he expected. Something has changed in her salivary glands. Well I can’t tell you what happen.” But we believed God stepped in.
In the words of our daughter Kevina Santucci of Bermuda this is what she said after she awoke from her operation in John Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore MD. “We always say we see God working, but never in my life have I experienced such an amazing testament of faith. Today, they were to remove my left submandibular salivary gland because of scaring and malfunction.
Friends and family...ooooohh let me tell you!!!! GOOOOODDDDD!! THE GOD WE SERVE SHOWED UP! The doctor went in and found NO SCARING! He only had to make a minimal incision but was able to flush out some of the inflammation in my gland. The cause of inflammation in my glands is still a mystery as of now but my gland is still in my face! I didn't have to be intubated and put in I.C.U because my lungs stayed open! Y'all I’m in tears! I just can't thank God enough! Prayer! Oh prayer works y'all! Thank you so much! Please don't stop! In a months time I want to tell the Dr. I have no flare up at all! I love you all so much!” Thank you all for the prayers and please continue to pray for her.
Blessing to you
Chaplain Santucci
