“How to help one who has been abused” Part 2

Quote of the day

To forgive is the highest, most beautiful form of love. In return, you will receive untold peace and happiness.”

Robert Muller

This is the 287th letter:

Text for the day: Mark 2:4

And when they could not get near him because of the crowd, they removed the roof above him, and when they had made an opening, they let down the bed on which the paralytic lay.

Our Theme for the day: FORGIVENESS IS THE KEY TO YOUR OWN LIBERATION Part 2 “How to help one who has been abused”

Our Devotional

In the words of Paul Boose, he said, “forgiveness does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future.” What a statement! Today we hope to answer the question of how to help someone who has been abused. This series on abuse is not concerned with one type of abuse, but all forms of abuse. Some have gone as far as to classify abuse as bad or not so bad. But all abuse, no matter how bad we see it, is out of order, and should not be tolerated, but condemned and stopped.

In some countries certain levels of abuse are acceptable as long as it doesn’t exceed the level of the law, where as in other countries these levels are condemned. The question we should all ask ourselves is who sets the level of the law that governs abuse? The answer to this question is the legislators. In this twenty first century which is considered as the most intelligent age since the Antediluvian man (mankind that lived before the flood).

Why is it, that the United Nations has not put out a standard to govern the level of abuse in our world? Is it because no one wants to rock the boat, but live and work together as long as they stay on their side of the fence, and agree only on there common points? Why is it that some countries that sit on the United Nations Council are allowed to have a voice, when they are a part of the problem that is leading to the acceptance of abuse in other countries and their homes?

When most people look at putting out a fire, they start at the place of entry. Now that’s good, but if a high wind comes, before long that fire will get out of control. Any good firefighter knows that if you are fighting a fire, you must try to stop it on all fronts. But the mean place of stopping a fire is at the heart.

Once you have taken the strength of the fire away, then everything there after is controllable. Today there is a fire of abuse that is raging across the world, and specialist and others with expertise are trying to put it out. These good Samaritans of our day are fighting at the place of entry, but who would dare step up and work on the heart of the problem? Who would call upon God to help us in Jesus name, to send someone to the United Nations Council to speak to the heart?

In the days of Jesus, the houses in the east where generally made flat-roofed, that the inhabitants may have the benefit of taking the air on them; they were also furnished with battlements round about, Deuteronomy 22:8 / Judges 16:27 / 2 Samuel 11:2. To prevent persons from falling off; and have a trap door by which they descend into the house. This door, it appears, was too narrow to let down the sick man and his couch who came seeking help from Jesus; so they uncovered the roof, removed a part of the tiles; and having broken it up, taken away the lathes or timber, to which the tiles had been attached, they, (his four friends) then had room to let down the afflicted man, Luke 5:19 / Matthew 10:27 / Matthew 24:17.

There may be someone whom you know today that needs your help that is abused. It may take more than one person to help them. Just look around for a moment and see who can help with that abused person. It may be a self inflicted abuse; it may be someone taking advantage of the weakness of someone. The signs may not be so evident, but they are there. In what way can you help or find others to help you find treatment for those who are abused and seeking help? Our text today helps us see that it is high time to uncover the roof that is preventing someone from getting to Jesus and finding help.

It is time for every country, including the United Nations Council to come into line with Gods' standard for abuse, and the respect of all men. Lastly, the greatest care you can provide someone who has been abused, or is still being abused, is to be a friend, a good listener, and let them down to the agents of mercy. May God help us all to this end today!

If you are being abused or no of someone who is, here is help for you.

Father give me a heart that forgives, a heart full of love, one with compassion just like yours above.
One that overcomes evil with goodness and love, like it never happened, never holding a grudge.
I want a heart that forgives that lives and let’s live, one that keeps loving over and over again.
One that men can’t offend, because your words within, give me a heart that forgives in Jesus name.

Today is a great day to praise the LORD for the things He is doing around the world through all Ministries. Although the work of spreading the gospel in different countries is moving ahead by human hands, it is not advancing as it should advance, yet, that which has been accomplished affords reason for gratitude and grounds for encouragement. To add to this great work of finishing the work of God is this ministry (Garden Ministry). We need your help; more and more people are seeking for Garden Ministry to be translated into their language. If you would like to translate this devotional and send it off to your friends in different parts of the world, please do so. You have our blessing.
