Marriage, Sexual Behavior, Adultery and Divorce

“The German city of Bonn has installed a meter to tax prostitutes for soliciting on its streets at a rate of six euros (£5.30; $8.70) per night. Those who fail to pay face fines or even a ban, and 264 euros were found in the meter when it was first emptied.

Tax has been levied on prostitutes elsewhere, but Bonn is the first city to use a meters. It is said that prostitutes are expected to pay the flat rate, regardless of earnings.” When Jesus comes, we will have to give an account to God for the breaking down of the seventh commandment.

Our Devotional

From a youth I loved to read the story of creation. The birds, bees, trees, fish, plants, and every creeping thing the kingdom, was made by God, always gets my attention. To this day, this is one of my deepest enjoyments. This is why I love nature so much. When we come to Genesis 2:18-24, we must pause for a moment as we look at the relationship of marriage and the home.

There are some who believe that it doesn’t matter how many wives or husbands one has, as long as you are true to all. On the other hand, there is a line of action that has fostered sex before marriage is OK. This class of people believes you should try things out before committing yourself in marriage to your spouse. They go on and say, “Does not the law of buying and selling teach you that you should check your product first and then buy it.” Friends, if we are going to be fitted for heaven, than we must follow God plan in the seventh commandment. In our text today, God throws a guard around the marriage intuition, and a most intimate binding, that represent Him and His people.

Physical passions between a male and female person only, constitutes an important part of human nature in marriage only. Physical passions or sex outside of marriage to your intended love one or other wise is sin. Impurity is the master sin of the human race and most dreadful in these end times. The marriage institution is of divine origin and is an important part of Gods plan and purpose. The seventh commandment prohibits all immoral relations between the sexes.

With so many sexual sins in our world today, we have reached, like it was in the days of Noah, evil continually, Genesis 6:5 / Ephesians 5:11-12 / 1 Corinthians 6:15-20. Adultery and fornication is a sin against nature, and society. Looking back in history, the kingdoms of Babylon, Greece, and Rome where destroyed because of moral degeneracy. Going back further, Sodom and Gomorrah was also destroyed for immorality, rottenness, and licentiousness. By the time of the New Testament, Jesus thought that if you look on someone indecently has also committed adultery, Matthew 5:27-28

Today God is making up His kingdom, what would hold you back from making your calling and election sure. Paul to the people of Corinthians said, “Be not deceived, 1 Corinthians 6:9-10, in his word to the Ephesians he said that we should be followers of God, as dear children, Ephesians 5:1-7.

Finally, in order for marriage to be successful, it must be consummated “in the Lord,” or according to his will, which excludes the marriage of a Christian with an unbeliever, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18. Note, this text does not stop with our physical marriage, but our marriage to the Lord in Baptism. With the increase in the lax divorce laws, the standards have been lowed in the sacredness of the marriage vows, which has created heedlessness in regard to its binding claims. Up until 2008 in Bermuda alone, to every 721 marriages per year, 256 of them failed for divorce, and of the 256 marriages that failed for divorce, 212 where granted.

We need to save our marriages, and stop letting Satan have his way in breaking down the bulwark that guard our home and societies from the pollution of immoral behaviour, Proverbs 7:26-27 / Proverbs 6:26-33. If you must divorce let it be on the grounds of the Bible only, Matthews 5:31-32 / Matthews 19:1-9. But if your mate had committed adultery and longs to come back to you, seek help for him or her and forgive if you can. After all efforts to resolve or reform your marriage has been tried and there is no answer. Than on these grounds you must pursue separation and or divorcement, for your own health and the health of your children if you have any. Seeking a closer walk with Jesus can also help bring comfort during this time, and finding a clean outlet can also help all parties come back to a since of normalcy.

Ø We are calling for prayer for the people of Nigerian city of Ibadan where at least 102 people are now thought to have been killed by floods. Floodwater, resulting from heavy rains that began on Friday, damaged three bridges and caused a dam to overflow, submerging buildings across the city. Most of the victims were children. Some victims had been trapped in collapsed buildings. Although flooding is common in Nigeria during the rainy season, meteorologists say this year's rains have been particularly heavy. Last year, about 500,000 people were displaced nationwide. About 2,000 residents have so far been displaced.
