This is the 167th letter:

Text for the day: 1 Corinthians 12:7

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.

Our Series: “HE GAVE GIFTS TO HELP US” Part 1

Our Theme for the day: “God Gifts”

Our Devotional

Pierre Corneille, Le Menteur once said, “The manner of giving is worth more than the gift.” What a true saying! As far back as mankind could remember humans have always had a problem with appreciating the gifts of there fellowmen. Thanking God for someone else is not in our natural state or the carnal minded person. Infect it is an unnatural characteristic and in the best of us if we admit it, is hard to come by. Can you number the grains of sand? Can you number the stars? Or can you number the hair on every head in the world? If you are like me and say no, then neither can we say who God should or shouldn’t give gifts too.

In the days of Paul he had to remind the church of Corinth of there attitude to others in ministry be it direct or indirect by saying, “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all: for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills. For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.” 1Corinthians 12:7, 12 (New King James Version)

In other words Paul was saying that one worker may be a ready speaker; another may be a ready writer; another may have the gift of sincere, earnest, fervent prayer; another the gift of singing; another may have special power to explain the Word of God with clearness. And each gift is to become a power for God not self, because God works with the laborer to will and do of His good pleasure. To one God gives the word of wisdom, to another the gift of knowledge, and another the gift of faith; but all are to work under the same Head.

Finally let us always remember that God has given diversity of gifts to His church to lead to a diversity of operations to help us, but "it is the same God which worketh all in all" (1 Corinthians 12:6). God gave gifts to men so they might share in the joys of this unfinished work of Redemption. "God's gifts put man's best dreams to shame." Elizabeth Barrett Browning

“On the other hand many have a vivid, unsanctified sensitiveness which keeps them constantly on the alert for some word, some look, or some action which they can construe as a lack of respect and appreciation. All this must be overcome. Everyone should go forward in the fear of God, doing his best without being troubled by praise or offended by censure, serving God fervently and learning to place the most favorable interpretation upon whatever in others may seem offensive.” By E.G White MS 24, 1887

Ever since last week I have come down with a skin disorder

called miscellaneous inflammatory disorders.

These lesions have covered my body from my neck to my bottom.

They are not contagious the doctor says, but I need some rest.
