answer!

Text for the day: Lamentations 3:25

The LORD is good to those whose hope is in

him, to the one who seeks him;

Our Devotional

Sometimes in life we learn that if we had just waited long enough, we would have avoided the shame, heartache, jealousy, and bitter strife, which the outgrowth of our decision has brought. Why is it that we must have our own way? In this world there are two forces that are fighting for our legions, good and evil. To the one you give your most attention to that will be the one that will finally rule your mind. In the days of Sarai and years later, barrenness among the Hebrews was ever regarded as a dishonor and a reproach among the people. (Genesis 30:1-30; Leviticus 20:20; Luke 1:25)

On the other hand to have a child was considered a special mark of divine favor, Genesis 21:6; Genesis 24:60; Exodus 23:26; etc. The Bible helps us see the Sarai would stand among the many women in history from her day to ours, who could not wait. In fact she would go to the extreme of letting her Egyptian maid share with her as wife of her husband, so she could produce a child for her. Have you ever heard the saying, what’s mine is mine, and what’s yours is yours? Like many women who have had surrogate mothers stand in for them, sometimes they had to face reality. This would be Sarai’s moment that she would have to learn that life can offer a bitter pill when least expected. (Genesis 16:3-5)

Sarai, Abram’s wife, had to learn the hard way that stepping out of Gods will, can not just bring jealousy but it can also bring (Genesis 16:4), a spirit of harshness to those you despise (Genesis 16:6), and this could lead to discord and mocking from the other party involved Genesis 21:9 and even separation. (Genesis 21:11-12)

Nowhere do you find that Sarai and Hagar made up before their death. But at the death of Abraham, Isaac and older brother Ishmael are there to bury his body (Genesis 25:7-10). When Jesus comes back the second time, only those who wait on him now will see him coming with great rejoicing and gladness. (Isaiah 25:9) For the vision [is] yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie or speak falsely: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come to pass, it will not tarry nor delay (Habakkuk 2:3). For in just a very little while, "He who is coming will come and will not delay (Hebrews 10:37). Finally, Sarai had to learn lessons of righteousness’ in the school of hard knocks, but she did learn.

Today you may find yourselves at the same place where like Sarai, you can’t wait. You may be going through an experience that you had brought on yourself, or that just happened out of the blue! Remember like God was to Sarai, He will be to you. He has committed Himself to bring you through, if you will just wait on Him. God doesn’t want you to wait and do nothing; you must also be of good courage. If you just wait and do nothing, you have time to listen to the devils lies that come your way.

Get up and give God thanks in everything. (1 Thessalonians 5:18) This is no time to be weary and faint hearted. With the two pillars of waiting by faith, and being of good courage, we can stand on the word of the Lord. That He may strengthen our minds to be victorious (Isaiah 40:31/ Psalm 27:14). You may not understand everything, but soon every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill in your life shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places that you must walk shall be made plain (Isaiah 40:4).
