This is the 183rd letter:
Text for the day: 1 Corinthians 14:32
For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
Our Theme for the day: “The fruit of Submission”
Our Devotional
In order for us to go forward in this world and live eternally in the world to come, we must be willing to submit to God’s will. Webster's Dictionary defines submit as, “Yielding to the control of another,” or “To yield, resign, or surrender to power, will, or authority.” There are other meanings to the word submit like, “To give up resistance; and or to surrender.” Most men like the part in the Bible where God commands all wives to submit themselves to their own husbands, or every ordinance of man. Ephesians 5:22 / 1 Peter 2:13. In a world of highly enlighten men sad to say, little do most of them know when it comes to the Bible, that this command from God has nothing to do with given one human control over another human at will like some men do to their wives. Paul was clear on this point. In another text Paul further says, “Wives, in the same way, be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 1 Peter 3:1-2 (New International Version)
In other words, God knows in order to get through the heads of some of these self controlling men in Paul’s day, was through their submitted wives. Let us stop at this point and see if you can remember this quote. “Submission plus a willing heart equals peace of mind.” Are there any benefits in this world to those who submit to the will of God? Yes!!! Firstly to those who submit to God, He is willing to give them peace of mind. At a time when people are living in fear God is willing to give peace to those who are willing to submit to His will. We can all agree that fear is an unpleasant, often strong emotion. But what caused fear? Fear most researchers’ say is caused by an anticipation or awareness of danger and can be accompanied by increased autonomic activity. Fear can be a very powerful and unpleasant emotion.
So what happens to our bodies when we experience fear? When we experience fear, several psychological and physiological responses take place all at the same time. Psychological events include feeling emotionally overwhelmed, having high levels of anxiety, and even feeling terrified. Physiological responses to fear include a faster heart rate, shallow breathing, and similar effects. Experiencing fear can greatly impact our view on life, our confidence levels, and can sabotage our potential for personal growth. Just as there are many types of fears, there are also different levels of anxiety associated with fears. Some people have what they consider to be strange fears, when they simply possess a less common fear. It doesn’t matter what the fear is or how many people have it – if it is affecting your life in a negative way and holding you back from full enjoyment of your life, it is the definition of fear, and doesn’t belong in your life.
Men who have not learned to submit themselves to the control and discipline of God are not competent in the training of their children and youth, yet alone to deal with human minds. It is just as much impossible for them to do this work. Now we are getting an idea of why we have so many problem children and youth today. It all begins with a society that has not gotten over their fears.
What are a few common fears? Some fears could be social fears like the fear of failure, fear of rejection, and fear of criticism. There is such a fear as the fear of success. Once you learn to overcome your fears through Christ Jesus, than you can use all your energy you spend in worry and fear to improve the quality of others. Finally, if you are going to take hold of God, then you must take hold of Him all the way. God has pledge Himself to His children to give them all the resources possible that they may move from strength to strength. But it is only as we submit to Him that He will bless and fortify. “Remember, the fruit of Submission is a willing heart”. May God grant you victory over your fears today as you submit to God!
